Pet care experience

MY EXPERIENCE Hi! I'm Laura, and I love pets. I've been a life-long cat owner, but I love me a good pupper, too. I'm also a plant mom so I'll make sure your green babies stay just as healthy as your fur babies. **I have experience with administering pills to cats!** **Current volunteer at the Sacramento SPCA!** Does your dog (or cat) need to be walked while you're out? We'll see the sights, smell the smells, and chase the balls until we're good and tired. Does your pet need a quick visit for food and love? I'll wash their dishes, scoop their poop, feed them, cuddle them, and even water the plants (ferns are family too, after all). Does your pet get anxious overnight without a buddy? I'll come over for a fun sleepover, complete with playtime and cuddles, and maybe even a treat or two. Need someone to drive your pal to/from the vet or groomer? I have a car and am happy to help. Contact me if your pet is looking for a new friend!

Laura was exceptional in taking care of our German Shepherd, who comes with several challenges, over several days. She was incredibly attentive and caring, and Zoey took to her instantly. Communication while we were away was fantastic, and she left the house in perfect order. We would absolutely hire her again.

Laura is a treasure for her ability to care for my kitty. I completely trust Laura to give Joy all that Joy needs to thrive when I'm away. Another plus is that Laura captures Joy's personality in the photos she sends. I love having a happy kitty when I return home. Laura, thank you.

Laura is simply the best with our cats. Even the one who doesn’t like strangers loves her.

WHY ME? I'm excited to maximize your pet's comfort by visiting them at your home. Not only does this help reduce your pet's stress, but it's also more convenient for you (and me)! Pet visits include cleaning out the litter box, refreshing food and water according to your instructions, administering meds as needed, cleaning up any pet messes (hairballs, accidents), and going on a walk and/or playtime to get the energy out. With shy cats, I will do my very best to find them without scaring them; but if they're really elusive (I have a shy cat myself and I know they'll find cracks and crevices anywhere!), I will monitor the food bowl and litter box closely to make sure they're okay. That said, if your pet has a history of hiding from pet sitters, you may feel greater peace of mind if you set up a nanny cam near the food bowl. All in-home visits also include plant care, bringing in the mail, and turning lights on/off. I'll make sure your home looks lived-in!

Information Laura M. would like to know about your pet

REQUESTED INFO FOR ALL PETS: - How is your pet around strangers? Can I expect a warm welcome, or do they typically hide when visitors come around? - What is your pet's favorite toy or way to play? How do they tolerate being touched? - What is their normal baseline for bodily functions like hairballs and pooping? (So that I can monitor for changes.) - Is your pet a "bolt risk"? How careful do I need to be opening the front door? - Is your pet spayed/neutered? - Does your pet take any medication? Please be as detailed as possible about medication routines. - What is the contact info for your preferred vet, in case of emergency? FOR CATS: - Is your cat declawed? - Is your cat allowed outside? I'll never leave them outside at the end of my visit, but I'm happy to chaperone a short outdoor adventure while I'm around. - Does your cat have FIV or FeLV? (This is not a disqualification, I just need to know in order to keep my own cats safe.) FOR DOGS: - What commands does your dog know? Are you working on any training that you'd like me to practice with them? - How is your dog around other dogs? Are dog parks a yes or a no? - Any resource guarding or leash aggression issues to keep in mind? - Is your dog kennel trained?

A typical day

A TYPICAL DAY WITH CATS I follow the "hunt, catch, kill, eat, groom, sleep" model when cat-sitting, so your feline friend's visit will start with some playtime! As best I can, I'll try to get them moving. For timid and/or lazy cats, we'll start with the laser pointer and then switch to a more physical toy. Once they've gotten the energy out, it's time for a meal. While they eat and hydrate, I'll clean the litter box and any hairballs or other messes. I'll brush and cuddle them (as tolerated) once meal time is over - just in time for a nap! A TYPICAL DAY WITH DOGS Just like with my cat clients, I like to get my dogs' energy out before mealtime. So, first up will be a trip to the park (I live near a great park for dogs which has very few people), where they can smell the smells and chase the toys. Once we've gotten some energy out, we'll head home for some water and a meal. When the food coma hits, it's time for cuddles!
