Pet care experience
I’ve grown up with dogs since I was a baby. My family had always had a few rescue dogs in the house. I truly feel people are better, more selfless and nurturing, when they have experiences taking care of animals. I am comfortable with all sizes of dogs as I grew up with Irish wolf hounds and German shepherds. Unfortunately I am allergic to cats but still love them. I can be around them for short periods of time without too much of an allergic reaction, but overnights in a home with cats is not possible. Drop-in requests welcome! :) I am available for walks/drop ins on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings and weekend afternoons. I work full time throughout the week, and have many commitments throughout the year out of town, but I will update any extra availability as it comes up. I do not currently have myself listed for overnights but I would consider if given enough information about your dog. Please send me a message if this is a service needed and I will try my best to work with you. I used to foster for Animal Rescue Foundation in London, Ontario before I moved to Kelowna (October 2021). I had several young pups at a time and I also had older dogs with me as well. Very comfortable potty training puppies and I appreciate the need for more frequent trips outside for the seniors too. I’m looking forward to meeting your dogs and I can’t wait to form bonds with them all!!! Animals have emotions and they deserve genuine care and love ♥️

Laura provided excellent care for our 9 year old Belgian Shepherd during an overnight board. Laura was flexible and accommodating, and responded promptly to messages and questions. Our dog felt comfortable with Laura as soon as she met her. Even though it was our dog's first overnight stay with someone new, and we were on a road trip away from home, our girl was happy, content and relaxed with Laura. We felt reassured by updates as to how our dog was settling in. Laura is very sensitive to the needs of each individual dog. I recommend Laura highly and wouldn't hesitate to book her again.
Laura was absolutely the best! I’m so impressed with how she was with Nim, and Nim loved her. She sent updates and videos and was flexible with timing which was very helpful and alleviated any stress I had. I HIGHLY recommend Laura. Thank you so much! ??☀️
Laura is a very responsible and lovely person to work with! I have worked with her in a professional setting for a number of years and have seen her great work ethic and her love for dogs during that time. I know sometimes it is hard to trust leaving your pet with a stranger, but I guarantee that Laura will make you feel comfortable during the process and that she is reliable and trustworthy. She takes great pride in the work she does and is very caring - your pets will love her!
This was my first experience with Rover, and I loved everything! The app and system are super easy to use, and I appreciated getting the daily updates. Also, best of all, was meeting Laura! She is superb and was wonderful with Leica. WOOT! : )

You know your animal more than I will, at least initially, and I trust that you know their current likes/dislikes and where to start off. I am comfortable teaching them new things and developing changes in routines too, but I respect when a good thing has been going already.

I am comfortable with dogs that need a bit more work; maybe they are timid, adverse to certain things most dogs enjoy, or just need a little extra care. I had a 3 legged, one eyed dog for 15 years and I have been around many seniors. I just appreciate you being up front with any challenges prior so we can work together to ensure this is a pleasant experience for everyone, animals included.
A typical day
This completely depends on the preferences of the animal. I am adaptable and will try new things. I’m used to dogs that like the beaches and water so I make a point of being in those types of areas, but again, I really enjoy keeping a good thing going and if you’ve provided me with what your animal already enjoys then I would be implementing those things for them.

Availability
I currently work full time Monday through Friday until 4pm, so my evenings are open and I still have lots of daylight to utilize for exercising your dogs after my days. I typically go for long walks or hikes on weekends and having a buddy with me just makes it more fun!
