Loving home for your fur baby

Pet care experience

A longtime devoted dog lover, owner and caregiver, I am craving dog companions to shower affection on now that I’m without my own dog for the first time in years since my sweet little Boston Terrier finished his long, beautiful life in 2018 at 16 years old. Safety, love and creating a reassuring, comfy attentive environment are my priorities. I am an artist and part time college professor who mostly works from home so I have plenty of time to go for walks, snuggle and play with your pet. I am in a dog friendly apartment located in Ladd’s Addition surrounded by beautiful tree-lined streets and parks for walks. I am trained in basic first aid and positive dog obedience that is patient and reward driven. Summer update: we have a really good A/C in our apartment so your dog will be able to keep cool in hot weather!

My geriatric pug with rear leg weakness issues has stayed with Laura multiple times now and I can't say enough good things. She takes wonderful care of him and provides me peace of mind that is priceless.

I can't say enough good things. Laura took excellent care of my geriatric, borderline disabled (rear leg weakness) pug, Percy, who neededtwo kinds of eye ointment two times daily. She provided regular updates, was very flexible, and provided me an immense amount of peace of mind. Percy will be staying with Laura again in the very near future (already booked!), and I am very thankful for her and her care.

Information Laura H. would like to know about your pet

I have an ideal environment for small to medium size dogs. My building does restrict some breeds but I personally do not so it would depend. Boston Terriers, Frenchies and Pugs are my absolute favorite but I can’t resist any friendly pups. I am very experienced caring for senior dogs including sight, hearing or mobility impaired and administering medication. I would like to know ahead whether your dog is comfortable saying hello to other dogs on walks and in my building or to be kept at a safe distance. Also, does your dog like to chew on things that could be harmful that I can remove from access ahead of time to keep them safe?

A typical day

There are beautiful walking routes in my neighborhood with lots of roses and shrubs to sniff as well as many dog friendly parks. There are dogs of all sizes in my building to say hello to if your dog is social but if not, can be kept at a safe distance. I work a couple times a week teaching in the Art Deprtment at PSU which is dog friendly if your dog is interested in coming to my class to hang out with my graduate students in the studio.
