Reactive Dog Owner Here for You

Pet care experience

Hi there! I’m a late-30s work-from-home federal employee with lifetime experience raising and caring for dogs of all sizes and temperaments. I have a leash reactive pup of my own and understand how stressful finding a trusted sitter for our sensitive animals can be. I recently moved to Boulder and now that I’m settled I’m looking to support other dog owners looking for safe and reliable care for their furry companions. Over the past 10 years I have dog and cat sat for more than 25 animals for friends and neighbors, fostered and volunteered with 3 animal rescues, and have owned my rescue mutt for the last 8 years (midnight trips to the 24-hour vet and all). More than anything, your dog’s mental and physical health is my top priority. I’m comfortable applying eye, nose, and ear drops; providing meds; and implementing any post-injury requirements. I also love walking, hiking, and running half marathons so I will gladly accommodate your pup’s exercise level. I’m a big fan of mental enrichment and have taught my dog more than 20 commands and would be happy to apply any training goals you have for your pup or playing stimulating games like “Find It.”

Laura is wonderful! We felt very comfortable with her watching our dog at our home. Great communication, excellent care. We would absolutely book again.

It’s so nice to be able to feel at ease when I travel and Laura is caring for my dog at home, knowing that both Ginger and my home are in such good hands. Ginger seems quite happy with the arrangement too!

Laura took such good care of our pup, I cannot be grateful enough! It was kind of last minute and we are visiting from out of town; she was so flexible and accommodating. Plenty of pupdates and walks, my doggo was very happy and I knew she was in good hands :)

Safety, trust & environment

I'm happy to host your pup or stay with dog(s) and cat(s) in their own home to keep their stress levels down and would follow whatever instructions you have for their environment (e.g. sleeping in a crate or crated when left alone, etc.). I'm flexible with staying over to keep pups company throughout the night or making drop-in visits 3x-4x/day if that's preferred. Should you wish to have your pup stay with me, I would keep my dog separated in her own bedroom while yours is able to free roam in the house with me, also taking our walks separately so my anxious mutt doesn't add any unnecessary stress to your pup's time. I have a small patio and grassy courtyard perfect for early morning and late night potty breaks and am surrounded by quiet neighborhood trails we can log lots of miles on.

Information Laura B. would like to know about your pet

Like I said I'm familiar with dogs of all temperaments and breeds and would love to know specifics about their unique personalities. Do they have a favorite bush they *must* sniff every day? Is there one dog in the neighborhood that just irks them for no reason? Do they have a penchant for barking "Hello" when they see their favorite people/canine friends (or maybe least favorite delivery folks)? Are they scared of anything like statues or motorcycles, etc.? No detail is too small so I can make sure our time together is as stress-free as possible.

A typical day

First walks of the day on both weekends and week days are usually between 6-7am, though some pups like to sleep a bit later and we can go by 8-9am. We'll hit the trail around the corner for some good sniffs and do a lap around the soccer fields. After breakfast and a nap we'll head out for our second walk, or maybe a run, opting for some shade where we can. We'll play a round of "Touch" or "Find It" or whatever the favorite toy du jour is and settle in for another nap before a late afternoon walk between 3-5pm before dinner. After dinner is mental enrichment or cuddle time, depending on your pup's preferences and then a final potty break around 9-10pm.
