For the past 11 years I have been a puppy raiser for Canine Companions for Independence. Of the 6 dogs I've raised, all but 1 has become a service dog or breeder. I like to hike so I'm good with high energy dogs. I hiked to Basecamp of Everest in May 2023 as an example of my fitness level. I am also a dog trainer and can provide training at $45 per session - I usually just do one session/day - about an hours, longer for high energy pups. I stop and start and give the dog breaks.

Lani is the best dog sitter I could ever recommend. She puts the needs of her animals above her own. She is neet and clean, conscience and compassionate. If she takes a job on you better know she will do the best job possible. Also, dogs LOVE her, like weirdly love her! Maybe she is a dog whisperer...I don't know but they really love and respond to her well. After she watched our super hyper temperamental and not so well behaved Husky for just a few days she was a different dog, relaxed and excited to be more obedient. I have known Lani for many years and can also vouch for her integrity. I could not recommend Lani more and would leave her in charge of our house and animals and never worry about a thing.
Lani has cared for our dogs many, many times over the past 8 years. Her knowledge of animal care and training is excellent. She provides a loving and safe environment for the dogs. She provides stimulation and exercise appropriate to each dogs needs. Our dogs are excited every time they see her. We give her the highest recommendation possible.

I live on 3/4 acres and my home is complete fenced in. There are no other pets than my current service dog who is a breeder. She does not stay with me when she's having/nursing puppies. I require any dog coming to stay in my home with me to be freshly bathed, groomed and nails trimmed. I am available to due basic obedience training for an extra charge of $45/hr (typically 1 hour/day total spent training stretched over several hours)

A typical day
I like to move so I'm always adventuring on new hikes. I really like John Nicholas trail off Black Road in the Santa Cruz Mountains, especially in the summer. The first mile or so is relatively flat and wide. You can hike up to the summit if you want a stepper climb as well. It is generally not crowded and most pet owners abide by the leash laws.

Availability
I'm home most days. I like to do outings with the dogs I train, whether that's taking them to the beach or hiking or to an outdoor restaurant or event. Basically, I take them with me everywhere.
