Hi everyone! My name is Lana, and I have been working with animals either as a trained volunteer or professional pet sitter for about five years now. I grew up with animals in and around my house in Houston but didn't really start working with them in more serious settings until I began college. At Austin Pets Alive, I began working with the neonatal kittens in their bottle baby nursery in addition to becoming a dog walker, both onsite and around Town Lake. Pretty soon after that, I began fostering animals in my own home. I fostered dogs who needed a break from the shelter and baby kittens too young and fragile to be adopted or even thrive the shelter environment. Work with these tiny babies actually inspired my career choice - a neonatal nurse practitioner. I'm currently a student at UT getting my Masters in Nursing, so I'm home a lot and love the company of pets and chance to go on walks multiple times a day. I go on these walks with my dog Sophie, who I adopted a year ago from the Humane Society. Sophie is a sweet, chill pup that I am actually in the process of training to become a therapy dog for volunteering at Dell Children's Hospital. From this, I got more training for handling dogs. Lastly, I began pet sitting professionally with a local company a couple years ago. This being the case, I have professional experience working with other people's pets both in their own homes and out in the world like on a walk, in public, etc. Contact me with any questions!
