Pet care experience
Hi there! My name is Kyra and I moved to Charlottesville about 3 years ago, after graduating college with a degree in Equestrian Studies and Business Management. Animals are, and always have been, a huge part of my life. I grew up with dogs and cats, I can’t imagine a life without animals. I currently work as a barn manager on a private horse farm, where I have the pleasure of working alongside 12 amazing horses. I have two dogs and two kitties of my own, who are spoiled rotten! When caring for pets in my home, I make sure they have plenty of water available at all times. My pets are rarely left alone, if I can bring my dog along then she’s coming with me! I also make sure to spend time with my animals and my clients. I make sure that everyone feels comfortable and like they’re at home.. I would only want the same for my pets if someone else was watching them.

Please let me know if your pup has any sort of health issues that I should be aware of! I’m comfortable administering oral meds. I also need to know what triggers your pup may or may not have. I want to ensure your furbaby has the best (and safest!) experience with me!
A typical day
I love taking my clients on long hikes or to any local parks, especially when the weather is nice! My pup is pretty active herself so it’s forced me to branch out and find different parks and trails around Charlottesville. More likely than not, we won’t be going to a dog park only because I don’t believe that dog parks are an effective means of socializing for dogs. I will leave that decision solely up to the owner and will only take their dog to the park, per their request.

Availability
Caring for my pets and keeping them in a routine, helps keep myself in a good routine. Each morning I wake up, or I’m woken up by my cats, and I feed them first. My dog, Cali, gets fed after the cats and then it’s outside for potty time. Depending on my schedule, she’s either coming to work with me or we have a day full of fun activities. At work, Cali follows me around while I’m doing my daily barn chores. If I’m not at work, we’re usually going on a hike or a walk around town and have some errands to run. If I’m home for the day, my cats bring me their favorite toys to play fetch several times throughout the day. We finish the evening with dinner for Cali and the cats, and spend the rest of the night hanging out with my boyfriend before it’s time for bed.
