Hi! My name is Kylie! I have five years experience as an acute care Registered Nurse and also recently earned my Master’s of Social Work from Smith College. I am currently the school clinician at a Northampton school for kids and adolescents with special ed needs. From birth I was raised in a house that always had pets, including multiple Shelties, a lovely Shepard-Husky mix, and was a co-dog mom to a rescue dog (part pit bull, unsure of the rest). I helped care diligently for them all including going on many walks, playing, cuddling, feeding, and administering medicine as needed. For example, two of my dogs had pancreatic enzyme deficiencies so I had to carefully monitor pills and powders on certain days and times. Currently, my boyfriend and I have two rescue cats that are the kings of our castle! We have so many cat trees/scratching posts/toys around that our friends joke, "Do humans live here, or just cats?" One kitty requires nightly transdermal medication that I administer on his ears and an oral medication used before car rides as he has distress on trips in the car. Our other cat requires special wet and dry food for a sensitive stomach, so I understand how important it is to feed pets on a consistent schedule with proper portions...one of our cats also uses a vest similar to a Thunder Shirt as he can sometimes be an anxious fella. I also have experience administering asthma albuterol breathing treatment to cats via spacers and pills by mouth. I also have cared for pet rats that I rescued, making sure to maintain good hygiene, give them plenty of time outside their cages, and keep their living quarters sparkling clean! :)
