Canadian in NYC - LES Animal Friend
Pet care experience
I grew up around pets, and came to love animals as companions with unique individual personalities! Prior to moving to NYC, I lived in Canada, where I regularly fostered a rotating cast of lively rescue Beagles, many of whom were recovering from hip dysplasia surgery while waiting for their forever homes. As I now live in NYC and travel somewhat often, I have decided to remain pet free, and fill this animal void in my heart by being a regular dog and cat sitter for my many city friends with pets. I also am involved with Greenpoint Cats and their fundraising efforts focused on the community cats of Brooklyn. I have caretaking experience with dogs, cats, and rabbits. I also have caretaking experience with young animals, older animals, high-anxiety animals, and animals recovering from or dealing with medical issues.
Reviews
Trusting Kyle with our cat Mittens was the best decision ever! He kept me updated every day with what Mittens was up to, which was a huge relief while I was away on vacation and since this was our first time away from Mittens for a long trip (two weeks). Kyle was always quick to respond whenever I checked in, which made me feel really connected to Mittens even from afar. Mittens felt right at home with Kyle, and I could tell he made sure he had a blast climbing and exploring safe spots. Throughout our trip Kyle setup cat furniture such as a hammock and water fountain, which Mittens had a great time playing with. It's clear Kyle has experience taking care of cats! Overall, I highly recommend Kyle as a cat sitter. His attentiveness and genuine care for Mittens made my vacation worry-free, knowing Mittens was receiving top-notch care. Thank you, Kyle, for your outstanding service!
You know when you’re afraid to review something because it’ll get too popular and maybe inaccessible? That’s how I feel about Kyle—he’ll be so inundated with sit requests that he, my dog’s new best friend, will be all booked up for the foreseeable future. He’s that good. There aren’t enough ways to describe how awesome and wonderful Kyle was with Zuma while I was away. I could tell my pup was in the best of hands and I had no need to worry like I might normally (him basically being my child). Kind, generous, positive, flexible, thoughtful. All the good things. I only wish we were in the same building so my pup could mosey on over to see his friend whenever he were welcomed to haha. For us, Kyle will always be a sitter and friend to consider.
Kyle went absolutely above and beyond with his care for our two kittens - he was overly communicative, responsible, and loving towards our pets. To share just a few examples of his compassion and top notch sitting skills, he would stay for longer than expected during his visits, help clean our space for any messes the cats made, and even helped us purchase and set up a hammock for our cats that they now love and use everyday! Overall, my partner and I were blown away and there’s no doubt that we’ll be booking him anytime we can to continue his newfound friendship with our kittens!
Kyle is actually incredible and couldn’t recommend more. This was my first time using the Rover app and was a little hesitant at first, however, Kyle went above and beyond here. I felt like Kyle really bonded with my kitties and really went the extra mile in getting to know them and making sure they felt fully comfortable when he dropped in 110% will be booking him again, I can’t recommend enough

I have a nice clean pet friendly apartment, and as I have personally looked many cats and dogs in NYC for friends while traveling, I have a full set of necessities, including food, water dishes, food dishes, litter boxes, and a wide assortment of pet toys to keep my furry houseguests occupied. On a personal level, I am college educated, and recently moved to the USA from Canada. Prior to moving to New York, I worked in Canada as a firefighter. I occasionally travel for work, and this is the main reason I myself do not have my own pet. I also work from home, and am very much a homebody. I love nothing more than hanging out at home and looking over my shoulder and seeing a nice cozy cat having a couch nap, or waking up in the morning and having a dog-walk to look forward to :) I am also organized and conscientious, and very attentive to individual and unique pet needs, depending on their unique personalities.
