Pet care experience
Hi! I am Kurt! I will be able to provide your dog with the care and attention he deserves while staying with me. I live with my wife and our one dog loving son. Lifetime dog lovers, Candice and I were thrilled when it became increasingly apparent that our son inherited the very important canine-loving gene. Not having dogs of our own, my son is always more than happy to volunteer to dog sit our furry neighbors when their human counterparts go out of town. Having undergone advanced screening, I have been met in-person by a company rep, and my home has been inspected. I hope you'll reach out to me so we can meet! Why I love dog sitting A lifetime dog lover. I am excited for my son to be able to experience the unconditional love and companionship offered by canine pals. Boarding dogs has all the advantages of a dog (a companion that gives me a reason to stop staring at my screen) without the vet bills. No other pets live in my home. However, I do board multiple guests, so it's important for me to understand how comfortable each guest is sharing space with other dogs. About my yard I have a grassy fully fenced-in backyard, perfect for playing fetch and soaking up some sunshine. My son will be happy to have a new canine playmate join them for afternoon play sessions running around outside. My experience administering medication I have no problem administering medication as long as I am given specific instructions. I was raised on a farm and treated cattle, pigs, horses, and dogs with medicines as required and as an adult, I worked as an animal technician so I have experience administering medication in that setting as well. My wife has a degree in animal science and is even more comfortable applying medication. I work full-time from home as does my wife, so frequent breaks outside and plenty of attention is available for your dog. Occasionally I will have errands to run and may ask you to drop-off or pickup while my wife is home, but that's not common and will be communicated to you well in advance. Dogs are allowed unlimited time in my double-fenced back yard, but are not allowed upstairs in the house. At feeding times and other times when I need to isolate dogs, I will place dogs into kennels or pet fences (if I have multiple guests) to make sure nobody gets upset. I have tile floors that many hot dogs prefer to nap on, but also have space for dog beds for chilly dogs or those that prefer a fluffier space. At night I typically place dogs in kennels or pet fences as well to prevent conflict while I am asleep.
Reviews
Kurt was super flexible in adapting to my changing travel schedule to make several adjustments to my original drop off and pick up dates. Belle (my pup) took to Kurt right away and seemed to be very comfortable in his home. Kurt was super responsive during the sit and Belle seemed like she had a great time when I picked her up! Thank you Kurt, look forward to booking with you again!
I trusted Kurt with my dog from the start. He is very professional and caring. I will use his services whenever I need to board my dog. From him, I feel she gets the attention and affection that she misses while I'm away.
We are so lucky to have found Kurt on Rover. He’s attentive to our dog’s medical issues and provides a calm environment. He was available on short notice and communicated with us while we were on vacation, sending us pics. Thank you, Kurt!
We’ve had Kurt dog-sit for us twice in the last two months and we hope to use him every time we go out of town. He’s flexible, communicative and loves Leo almost as much as we do. Thank you!

Safety, trust & environment
Every dog has their own needs, energy level, play style, personal space requirements. For some geriatric dogs, I set a timer on my phone and take them outside every hour to give them a chance to do their business so they don't have to hold it too long. For some dogs, I will set up a pet fence in my house to separate them from other guests, or subdivide my yard with a pet fence so they can play "together but separate" from the other dogs. For all dogs, I feed everyone in their own space (a kennel, a pet fence, outside on the patio by themselves, etc) to prevent conflict. I never give treats in a space where two dogs might compete over it. Your dog will only receive the food you send for them, no human food nor sharing with other dogs. For treats, we have homemade biscuits containing oats, pumpkin and egg, please let me know if your dog is allergic to any of that. Or, send your own treats and they'll only get those. For sleeping arrangements, everyone goes in a kennel or a pet-fenced section of the hall so there is no chance of conflict while I'm sleeping. If your dog is particularly sensitive about sharing toys, or reactive to pug-faced dogs, or flips out when they hear a motorcycle, or has any other unique personality trait, please tell me and/or put it on their profile. I will read all their details and do my best to create a comfortable, safe environment for their specific needs.

Information Kurt W. would like to know about your pet
All I need know is if your dog is housebroken, spayed/neutered, gets along with other dogs, up to date on vaccinations, and if they sleep in a crate. If there are any medicines that need to be applied, please add that to the Care Instructions section for the dog here on Rover, that is much more reliable than giving me the info verbally at drop-off.
A typical day
Here's where we'll take our walks We will go on long walks around our lovely neighborhood. We will also venture over to the nearby 'bark park' for some off leash time and a chance to smell some new grass. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Your pup will be separated from the other dog guests during sleep time. If they use a crate at home, they can sleep in a crate here. If they do not sleep in a crate, I will set up a pet fence for them to call home while they are here. I do not, however, allow canine companions in the bedroom. Please feel free to bring your dog's favorite pillow, blanket, or doggie bed from home (please keep beds 4 feet or less on their longest dimension). Time I'll spend with your dog I am home full-time as is my wife. Your dog will almost assuredly never be home without a human, in any given year we probably have 10 hours total time where nobody is home.

Availability
I work full-time from home and have frequent breaks throughout the day between meetings and phone calls. During those breaks, I'll makes sure everyone gets outside for some fresh air and romping time, feed, apply medicine, or any other tasks that need to happen on a schedule. My wife is available at home almost all hours of almost all days, so she lets dogs in and out the back door as they request, plays tug-o-war, and generally keeps them company. If your dog likes to flop in a lap and get scratches, they'll love her!
