Pet care experience
I was a professional petsitter for many years before pursuing a career as a biologist. Now I have a few different biology degrees, but I've missed working with companion animals. I had intended to return to my petsitting business after retirement, but recently decided, why wait? I also have experience in other companion animal jobs, including working at a veterinary clinic (small and large animal), a humane society, and a dog wash. I’m also a volunteer foster parent for the Oregon Humane Society. I can administer medication, shots, and subcutaneous fluids. The majority of my previous charges were small companion animals such as dogs and cats, but I have also worked with larger farm animals, including horses, goats, and chickens. I am happy to take care of any species or breed! My house-sitting services also include bringing in mail and watering plants.
Reviews
We have never left our pups with a sitter before, but Kristy put us at ease. I very much appreciated the opportunity for a meet and greet before her stay. Communication was great. She kept us updated on our pups throughout the weekend and even rearranged her schedule to walk them at cooler times of day. She left our dogs happy and our house is perfect order. Thank you for taking such great care of our girls!
Kristy and her dog Cora are incredible! Kristy communicated with me each day and took excellent care of my dog. She is a phenomenal pet sitter. I hope we get to do it again soon. Thank you Kristy and Cora!!
Kristy was an awesome caretaker for my 6 month old and 10 year old lab mixes
Kristy handled a house full of reptiles, fish and mammals with ease! We loved having her stay, and she was very attentive to our special needs. Looking forward to next time!

Information Kristy L. would like to know about your pet
First and foremost, I need to know about your dog’s normal routine, including feeding times, potty break schedule, medication administration, and regular exercise activity. Maintaining their routine as much as possible will help relieve the stress of the owner’s absence, and ensure that I am prepared to deliver the level of care your dog needs. It is also helpful to have information about their personality. For example: how do they interact with people or other animals in public? How do they normally communicate their emotional state and needs? I love all kinds of dogs, and have neither preferences nor breed prejudices. I've worked with such a wide variety of dogs, and I know how they all have unique personalities. I also have the experience and patience to work with dogs that are shy around strangers or stressed by unfamiliar situations.
A typical day
I enjoy long distance dog walks on park trails or quiet neighborhood streets. If there is a fenced space available where a dog can run freely, then playing frisbee or fetch is always fun for both of us. I'm always happy to engage dogs with any indoor toys they prefer, and I enjoy brushing them as well. When at home, dogs that are allowed on the furniture are heartily welcomed into my lap, no matter how big they are :) I do respect the rules of the household and will not encourage dogs to go anywhere they are not normally allowed, or provide any food/snacks without permission.
