In addition to growing up on a small farm where I discovered my passion for animals, I have worked in the pet care/ animal service industry for over four years now. I got my professional start at a dog training & boarding facility in March of 2016. During my time there, I was introduced to obedience dog training and helped incorporate these skills’ into the dogs’ daily routines. There is no dog too big or small for me to comfortably help them learn skills such as leash manners! Using the skill set I had gained from that experience, I moved on to a small animal practice clinic. During this time, I received more hands-on experience with medications and grooming of both dogs and cats. These tasks required me to gain an even greater understanding of animal behavior and the many cues they will give us humans. After working in the clinic for nearly two years, I made a career change and became a stay-at-home Mom to my first child, and got to learn even more about canine behavior through observation and supervision of my own personal dogs with my child. I have gained experience in teaching young children how to respect animals’ space, and how to encourage pets to safely communicate with young children. After less than a year away, I felt a strong need to return to work in the field I am passionate about - animal care. I have now spent the past year and a half working in a dog daycare and boarding facility, where I was quickly promoted from a kennel technician to the facility’s manager. During my time here, I have been able to practice the many disciplines of animal care and safety, in addition to learning more about dog interactions and safe vs. unsafe play. I am very well-rounded in the many aspects of pet care and would be happy to help your family!
