Pet care experience
I grew up on a farm and have been around animals my whole life. Aside from the cows and chickens, I've always had 2 dogs by my side. While living in Toronto, I worked at a Dog Daycare at Yonge and St. Clair avenue dealing with a wide range of dogs. Whether training them to herd chickens back to the coop or teaching a pup to walk on a leash, I feel I have a broad range of experience that would make me a great option for your animal. I just had to say goodbye to our 16 year old Brittany, Diego, who meant the world to us. While he enjoyed his final years in the peace of the mountains, he felt the affects of his age and my main focus was to make sure he was as happy and comfortable as possible. I learned so much from taking care of an ailing senior dog and I gained even more compassion for dogs than I ever thought I could.

Kristina absolutely loves dogs evidenced by her care of Diego (Brittany Spaniel) during his senior years culminating with 24 7 care in his final month as health declined. It was an amazing display of compassion that ensured Diego's quality of life was the best it could be from selecting/preparing the best food, effective pain relief and carefully planned frequent walks even with the aid of a canine wheelchair needed due to impaired hind leg mobility. Kristina also cared for Muffy, our Maltese poodle cross during her final months a few years ago and handled well the stress on all of us from Muffy's increased incidences of seizures. Our Red Heeler cattle dog Tippy was a great asset to us on the farm and was Kristina's childhood favorite. Kristina exemplify a great understanding of the required care of a broad range of dog breeds.
Kristina is a wonderful caregiver for animals of all kinds. She has exception experience with reactive dogs, elderly dogs and truly cares for animals like they are her own. She has watched my dog on many occasions and would strongly recommend her to anyone looking for an active caregiver to watch your pooch!
Kristina is genuinely compassionate and attentive. She is a good friend to all animals especially for our yellow lab !! She keeps her busy and is always having fun! We would highly recommend Kristina.

I live in a pet-friendly apartment unit with my partner. We do not have a yard but the Elk Run Dog Park is a stone's throw away and I have easy access to the many trails in the Cougar Creek area. We have a car as well, so if comfortable, we can easily drive to the dog parks or trails that are further away. Even though Diego made it to 16, he demanded frequent walks so I am used to heading out every few hours and have no problem doing that with any dog (or cat) who wants it . Both my partner are very active and enjoy spending lots of time outside and having a furry companion to join us is even better. We are avid runners and would be more than happy to take a dog along for a run. We have room to accommodate any crates. I am also available and eager to do pet sitting in the pet's home. I know first hand with my dog how important familiarity and routine can be for a dog so if it's easier for the pet to stay at home then I'll come to them!

A typical day
I am so lucky to live right next to an extensive trail system. I love being out in nature and watching dogs experience it as well. Both my partner and I love to run so an active dog is not something we are afraid of. At the same time, sitting on the couch with a dog in my lap is a perfect way to spend a day or evening. I always remember that this time is for the dog, not for me, so if they want to spend half an hour in the same spot sniffing the same tree, then that's what we'll do! But if they want to run or fetch, that's what I'm here for.

Availability
I currently work Thursdays to Monday from 9-5 with availability in the evenings, as well as my weekends. My partner has a less predictable schedule and will also be around to help or fill in the gaps where I'm busy. I occasionally go into Calgary on my days off but generally stay close to Canmore most of the time.
