I’m an animal care naturalist with experience with dogs, cats, small mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates. I love all creatures. I have a degree in animal behavior and my work experience includes: zoos, wildlife rehabs, nature centers, pet stores, dog training, in addition to many years pet sitting for family, friends, and Rover clients.

Kristen has a special connection with animals. She has cared for a variety of animals: Birds, reptiles and small mammals (mice to large dogs). She has done pet sitting for a number of people over the last 7 years. She has been certified with Animal Husbandry while working at Petsmart in Vernon Hills, IL. The store selected her to be responsible for taking any animals that needed veterinarian care to the doctor as well as being the person they entrusted to attend to the animals whenever the store was closed. She has a passion for animals and would be an asset to any family looking for a caregiver for their pet.

Before sitting I would like to know basic personality and typical behavior in addition to any health concerns to be mindful of. It is also helpful to have a daily checklist that includes feeding times as well as amount or other instructions as needed. If there are things in your home or areas, your pet is not allowed access to that is also helpful to know ahead of time as well.
A typical day
Since my home is not dog friendly, I am happy to take your pets on walks, play with them during visits, and provide in enrichment, including upkeep on trained behaviors.

Availability
I work part time so my weekly schedule is fairly flexible. I am available nights, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. My schedule fluctuates more on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays but if you’d like to be a repeat client, I can adjust my schedule to fit yours.
