I have had a dog in the house for as long as I can remember and dreamed of growing up to have as many animals as I could. Today, my family and I have a small farm with an assortment of pets like dogs, turkeys, and sheep to name a few. I have 4 amazing dogs and 2 funny cats that make every day better. Bander is a 12 year old pit bull and our resident couch potato. Yogi is our 3 year old Irish Wolfhound/Border Collie. Yogi is full of energy and love. He is also also a bit of an odd ball and what some might consider high-maintenance or needy. Owen, an Anatolian Shepard/Kangal Dog Mix is the big boy at 135+ lbs. Owen along with Yogi are livestock guardians to the many barn yard pets. Echo rounds out the pack and is a Husky/Pit Bull Mix at 80 lbs. I am more than used to large dogs that think they belong on your lap and that is ok by me! The rest of the pets include: a guinea pig, sheep, goats, rabbits, turkeys, chickens, ducks, and a tortoise. I have also had: quail, turtles, and rodents in the past. I have experience with horses, pigs, and cows. I have helped around horses throughout my life so I am comfortable around large livestock. Besides my own animals, I am also handling other people’s animals on a regular basis through 4-H and livestock shows. My pets help me to remember to keep things simple and appreciate every moment.
