Pet care experience
Growing up in a small town in Oklahoma with a few fenced-in acres allowed my family to have an extended dog family. We have owned labs, pointers, setters, terriers, and a few unknowns over the years. We have also had cats, birds, hamsters, snakes, fish, rabbits, etc as my mom is a former high school science teacher. My mother owns a pet grooming and dog sitting business in our town, so I have grown up taking care of my own dogs plus my mom's customers' dogs. I'm searching for an opportunity to care for your beloved pups while missing my own! I have successfully used Rover while I earned my BSc in FL and my MSc in CA, and now I’m hoping to use Rover to find dog families on Oahu, HI while I earn my PhD. Kirby is the absolute definition of an animal lover! Her love for all species of animals has led her to study Marine Mammals throughout her college career. Not only that, but she has had a lot of experience with dogs, and other pets in her lifetime since her mother has worked as a pet groomer/sitter for many years. There is not a time that I remember there not being dogs around when I visited her at home. She has shown an outrageous amount of love for my fur baby so I know that she would do the same for another! I can honestly say that I would trust Kirby 100% with my pets, so go on, CHOOSE KIRBY! You will not be disappointed!

Before accepting a job, I prefer to meet you and your dog in person so that I can get a better understanding of your dog's behavior and the relationship that you all have. A successful dog-sitting experience requires that I understand your dog's behavior at home and while out and about.
A typical day
I have two years of experience in Applied Operant Conditioning with seals and sea lions in a research setting. Therefore, I love to apply the training skills I learned with sea mammals to our furry land friends. I'm happy to learn more about the behaviors/commands that your dogs know so that they can be maintained while you're away.

As a graduate student that has completed course requirements, my schedule is extremely flexible. I'm working part-time at home, so I'm available to stay at your home during the day if needed.
