A Vet Student's Home for Doggy Care - Where doggies go on their own holiday! I'm a veterinary medicine student at Edinburgh University (Dick Vet) who has a strong passion for caring, interacting & bonding with dogs as individuals. Through my upbringing on a farm & education, I developed a strong love for dogs. I understand that owning a dog is much more than just a responsibility. He/she is a friend, companion, & family member. Through extensive vet work experience (in vet practices and boarding kennels) and undergoing the intensive vet studies programme and training, I'm experienced in canine husbandry; handling; nutrition; first aid/emergency & critical care; dog training & behaviour. I’m comfortable with administering meds; caring for dogs with health conditions; preparing special dietary requirements; caring for injuries/wound management; going on walks (blocks-miles) by the sea for swims or in parks for ball launching & running! My husband & I along with our 10 yr old rescue Alsatian, Gretchen, moved to Edinburgh from the US. Gretchen was then diagnosed (@Dick Vet) with 2 chronic spinal neurological diseases which eventually paralysed both her hind limbs over the span of 1.5 yrs. As Gretchen became paraplegic, I was her dedicated primary caretaker requiring 24/7 monitoring and nursing (peacefully let go in 2015). Therefore, I’m skilled to care for all pups requiring my full attention, day or night (disabled or geriatric dogs and puppies). I fully understand the difficulty in finding a trustworthy, reliable dog sitter who is willing to go over & beyond to ensure your dog remains happy & comfortable during your time away. I always enjoy providing the best possible TLC for any loved one whether last-minute or planned in advance. Located in Western Harbour Breakwater (seaside expanding into the Firth of Forth), next to Newhaven Harbour & Lighthouse Park with loads of pedestrianized areas for loads of running & playing!
