Both myself and my husband have grown up adoring our animals. From cats, dogs, to guinea pigs, lizards, frogs, and more! We have two cats and one dog, so caring for a dog who does well with other cats is an absolute MUST. They don’t have to love cats, but it’s essential the dog has the ability to leave the cats alone. We both work full time. We typically get home around 4:30. Come March, I will be work from home 2-3 days per week (Wed/Thurs for sure). On the weekends, we tend to stick around and would love to relax with your four legged family member. We own our house and have a large fenced in yard. Our home is a duplex, so we do share the backyard with our tenants who have a large golden retriever. In our house, we have a door that splits the house up. This is super helpful for our cats if they get anxious and need to be separated from your dog. Typically, if the dog doesn’t have an issue with cats, our cats are happy! If there is some distrust, we can separate when we are gone for the day. Our rescue dog, Louie, is a 1.5 year old corgi/shiba mix. He is the sweetest boy EVER and has zero aggression. He loves to play but is also good at reading dogs if they just want to chill. It is important we do not take care of highly reactive dogs as Louie has never been exposed to that. We currently both work full time so our routine changes. Starting in March, I will be WFH 2-3 days per week (Wednesday and Thursday’s for sure). Our dog stays home alone most days currently from 8:30-4:30. We have a fenced in yard and have a door that can separate our cats from the dog if they are not getting along. We prefer to crate the dogs if we’re gone for the work day/extended periods.
