Capable and experienced friendly animal lover
Pet care experience
I'm a full time dog walker and dog sitter now and I'm fully loving it! I'm the son of a veterinarian and worked in a veterinary clinic as an assistant for over ten years. That gave me a huge wealth of experience in handling animals. I also used to work in a dog daycare so I've been in many animal related scenarios. Being with animals that are waking up from anaesthesia or having to be sedated means I've got solid experience with stressed or otherwise uncooperative pets. I can't say I've seen it all because ten years isn't enough for that but I have been part of vast variety of nuanced animal interactions. I'm very much at home outdoors and I love meeting, greeting, and caring for animals. I have a well natured 12 year old terrier that sometimes accompanies me. I'm laid back, approachable and fun and this does translate through into my relationship with dogs where they find me comfortable to be around. I will try my best to cater to your needs, whatever they may be.
Reviews
Kieran was available to dog sit at fairly short notice, was highly experienced and our lab puppy loved him! Right away he was also discouraging some of her naughtier behaviour!
Keiran is great with our dog Mari - reliable, good at communicating.
It was our first time having a dog sitter stay in our home with our cavapoo and it went so well with Kieran! Our dog can be a nervous guy so it was a relief knowing he was in experienced and capable hands. Kieran’s gentle & extremely well mannered dog Jack also stayed which was such a great socialisation experience for our dog. Kieran sent plenty of pictures and updates while we were away too. Thank you so much Kieran!
Kieran looks after our dog Chewie, taking him for walks when we’re at work and house sitting when we’re on holiday. Spending time with him has hugely benefited Chewie, who is typically quite shy. He’s learned to trust Kieran (as do we!) and they have a great bond.

Communication
Skills
Safety, trust & environment
Through being attentive to the animals and vigilant to my surroundings I ensure their safety. By being fun, firm and fair I maintain trust. By being tidy, observant and clean I keep a safe environment.
Information Kieran M. would like to know about your pet
If you could let me know their temprement with other dogs and people that would be appreciated. Also, any quirks specific to their behaviour that I should be aware of. I have looked after all types of dog personalities, they may try to fend off cyclists, bark at people wearing hats, steal picnics or eat whatever they can off the floor. Nothing will surprise me, but it is important that we communicate openly about these things.
A typical day
I like to keep the dogs moving a reasonable amount and can walk all day. If I'm booked for half an hour walk I assume that will be an hour unless that wouldn't be good for your dog due to health reasons. We can play whatever they like. Fetch, tug of war, find the treat smell games, meeting other dogs.. there's a lot of good options for keeping things fun. Mostly I feel dogs just like the simplicity of going for a walk and seeing what's happening out and about. Once I get to know the dog we will be able to expand the activities for the day, for the most part I just like to get them some exercise and give them some company.
