Hi, I am Kiefer! I will be starting Dental School at the University of Minnesota this fall and just relocated to Minneapolis. I am originally from Nevis, MN, but relocated to Fargo, ND to continue my education at Concorida College Moorhead. I've spend time working as a Phlebotomist and also volunteered at our local shelter throughout my undergrad education. I've always had a passion for animals. I have not lived without at least one animal in my household. Currently, due to my move that animal is a Betta Fish named Hector (In a 5-gallon heated tank). I have quite a bit of free time and would love to help out fellow pet lovers with their furry friends. When I was younger I grew up with a Labrador retriever, West highland white terrier, Poodle,and three cats. I was always surrounded by tons of dogs at every single family gathering. Everyone throughout my family has at least one animal ranging from small cats and terriers to large great Danes. My family has a tradition of bringing their dogs with them to every gathering...so you can imagine the chaos of 8-15 dogs running around. This taught me how to read dogs' behaviors and get them out of situations that may trigger bad behaviors. I've had experience dog sitting up to 8 of my family members dogs at once. I also have experience volunteering at the Homeward Animal Shelter in Fargo, ND as a dog walker. The dogs at the animal shelter range from smaller terrier mixes to large mastiff mixes. I was often tasked with walking the dogs that were labeled (Difficult) really this just meant they needed a bit for patience and calmness from their handler. I enjoyed forming connections with the animals and ensuring they got their proper exercise. I was always so happy to come in and see another dog had been adopted. After my recent move to Minneapolis, I've realized that I miss taking care of animals and realize I will not have the time to give a dog love during parts of my dental education. This is why I would love to offer my time and love to you and your animals now.
