Pet care experience
We've had a variety of pets since our first rescue dog joined our family when we were newlyweds 25 years ago, including lovebirds, chickens, fish, and tortoises. We currently have two lively and snuggly pups, 2 years old, and we've been pet sitting for friends and family for the last 3+ years. We prioritize using non-toxic products for home and personal care. There are no chemical fragrances or toxic cleaners in our home, which could irritate your pet's skin or lungs.

Benny had a great time staying with Kiara and her family! She kept us updated and sent pictures to show that Benny was doing just fine without us! When we went to pick him up, he was hanging out on the chair looking through the big window smiling. He had so much fun he asked to go back in a couple weeks, so we’ll be taking him back soon!
Great communication and pictures of our puppy. I felt very safe leaving her.

We have a block fence around our backyard and a locked alley gate. Our doggy door to the backyard is available during daytime hours, and I'm also happy to let your dog out the back door as needed. Dogs are always leashed when in our shady, grassy front yard. Our dogs are only allowed on beds/furniture when invited, with the exception of a special chair that looks out to the street. We only take neutered male dogs and crate trained dogs who are well behaved since we have a big family and plenty going on. All dogs must be friendly with other dogs and with children. Sorry, but we don't take pit bulls or huskies. Our dogs don't respond well to pits for some reason, and one of our kids is very allergic to huskies.
A typical day
We have five kids, and four of them live at home, so there are plenty of us around to provide love, attention, and supervision. There's almost always someone ready to play or snuggle while reading a book or working on a laptop. If your dog loves to walk, and weather permits, we're happy to go walking. Let me know if your dog is leash trained and this is something you'd like!

Availability
I'm a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu self-defense instructor with a flexible schedule, so I'm home a lot (typically gone 2 - 4 hours a day for classes). All pups run free in the house when we're home. **I crate visiting dogs when an adult is not home to supervise interactions, so they must already be crate trained so this feels comfortable and not stressful for them.**
