Part-time vet tech, full time PhD
Pet care experience
I began working in emergency veterinary medicine since I was 15 years old (my father is an emergency veterinarian) - starting off as dog walker, working my way up to vet tech. After about 10 years, I went into grad school where I got a PhD in zoology. I am currently a professor, working remotely, but I still love veterinary medicine, so I pick up shifts from time to time.
Reviews
Kevin makes the perfect pet sitter/dog walker. He absolutely loves both dogs and cats - of which we have one of each. Their interaction with him tells me how much they trust him as a caretaker and playmate. Kevin has over 10 years working as a vet tech. He is currently a college professor in China but due to Covid he is teaching from our home; therefore, available to pet sit and walk dogs. I honestly can't think of a better fit currently than helping take care of pets whether they be soft and furry, slick and scaly, or fuzzy and feathery. He has had a lot of experience handling all of these in his vet work.
Kevin is great with animals. He has a PhD in zoology and a background in veterinary care (his father has a veterinary practice). He has always been wonderful with my pets (dog and reptiles). I'd definitely trust him with my dog!
Kevin has been an indispensable asset in caring for our dog Baxter during days when I'm traveling and out of town. He's reliable, Baxter has bonded with him and Kevin's diverse experience as a vet tech affords me additional peace of mind in knowing that Baxter is always being well cared for. I give him my highest recommendation.
I’ve known and traveled with Kevin for over 15 years, is one of my most solid, dependable friends. His experience as an emergency vet technician shows in his deep knowledge and empathy for every animal he encounters. With dogs especially, besides his love and passion for them, his ability to read their body language and communicate with them is amazing. You couldn’t find a better person to take care of anyone’s pets.
About Kevin M.
Skills
Safety, trust & environment
Currently I am only offering dog walking as a service. I may expand later as I see how this service plays out. If I do expand into house sitting, I will simply follow the client's instructions as to how they want their pets cared for. I am a frequent pet sitter for my sister with her 3 dogs and 1 cat, and she has very strict rules.
Information Kevin M. would like to know about your pet
I prefer to know the breed (personal curiosity), size (big, small, medium), age (puppy, teenager, adult, senior), and anything special I should know - such as whether or not they have fear of storms (or fireworks, if close to a holiday), or hate loud noises, jumpy for any reason. Anything that makes them stand out in that regard - perhaps they are obsessed with squirrels, or maybe they love to chew their leash all the way through, things of that nature. Special quirks that would make it so that I don't come across any surprises that would put the dog or myself in any kind of dangerous situation.
A typical day
Depending on the owner's request, and the size of the yard / neighborhood, I will either walk your dog in your yard, your neighborhood, or if time permitting (distance, etc), I could take them to a local park.

Availability
As I am working remotely with my full time job (professor, author), I am available nearly every day of the week, as long as I am in town. Personally, I have a dog, a cat, and two snakes.
