Life long Animal Lover here

Pet care experience

I care for all living beings, but dogs are my go to when it comes to spending time and feeling at home in a world I choose. I've trained many breeds over the years and have heard various techniques. The older I've gotten the more formal the training I've received. All of which has been positive reinforcement training. I once went through a program that taught me how to train my own service animal. The techniques are very similar to the way I was during my early years when classes were not on my radar. My dog would simply go everywhere with me and learned how to behave in each setting without much effort at all. With the more formal training in recent years the fun part I find is desensitizing, shaping, training while playing, and having a great friend with me at all times. I do not claim to have had a ton of success reversing already spun habits. It's important to start pups young in many cases, though there are also many dogs that are easy going enough they can pick this up in no time. Whether you have a pet for the the home, all kinds, I will care for them as you do and I'll send you on your carefree way with full confidence. Boarding dogs at my house is limited to easy to manage temperaments and activity levels do to the fact our home is very small with hard wood and we have no fenced yard.

Kerry has always provided such excellent care for the animals in her life, but more importantly, she understands that pets are family members and always treats them as such. For several years, Kerry watched my dog during the day while I worked full time. She took him on adventures with her own dog and gave him the love and care that he deserved, which was much different than the experience he had when I brought him to doggy daycare. I am grateful that my dog experienced the level of care that Kerry shows her own dogs and family members. Highly recommend!

Safety, trust & environment

When going into others homes I simply follow their daily routines and instructions. While at our house I make sure needs are met first, set the tone with rules of the house and have plenty of interactions with them through out the day, whether that be an elder or one that likes frequent walks. I love the elders and can't pass up a puppy. I've not sat for cats in my home and would not feel comfortable doing so unless the owner knows something I don't know regarding their outings.

Our daily routines involve mostly walks. Sometimes on trails nearby and sometimes just on the roads. We live right by a lake so when weather is accommodating we take advantage of water play. Using a long lead for ball throwing, games, and training on nearby fields is part of our usual activities as well.

My husband and I are both retired. I've recently lost my elder Irish Setter who spent most all his time with us. Now I have a Mini Poodle pup who's being trained to fill some pretty big shoes. So far it's smooth sailing!
