I volunteer at the animal shelter and care for the dogs there, doing both support services (cleaning, laundry) and interacting with dogs (giving treats, working on basic commands).I have raised 2 dogs and have cared for many others.

I try to get to know the dog by speaking to the owner/owners and observing them. We follow the instructions of the owners. In my home we try to cater the care to the dog’s personality. If a dog is more active we go for frequent walks and play with them as much as possible. For less active dogs we provide a quiet and safe haven so they can relax in our company.

Likes and dislikes, shy/outgoing, each dog is so unique it’s hard to know what is the most important information, but the constant and consistent communication with the owner is vital.
A typical day
For walking the dogs I would simply follow the owner’s instructions. Each dog and his or her owner has already established a routine of their walk paths and I wouldn’t break from that unless an emergency comes up.
