As a mother of two cats and a lover of all animals, I found myself gravitating towards my neighbors house on my free mornings, rushing to take his dog to the beach and back before he wakes up. One day, when I came back a little later than usual he caught me hosing down the happy pup and I was met with a peculiar question. "Why do you do it?" He asked puzzlingly. The question set me back a bit. I never imagined the action of walking a dog as something that needed a reason to justify, but more of a joyful act, not only to the walker but the dog as well.
