Pet care experience
My name is Kendall and I am not only an animal lover, but an animal welfare professional with 7 years of professional experience working for animal shelters, 10 years of dog fostering (and rescue founding!) and years of experience pet sitting and owning animals of all shapes and sizes. My background as community cat coordinator, and the program director of behavior at HAWS, has provided me immense understanding of the complex behaviors and needs of dogs and cats. I have experience working with (and through!) behavior concerns such as leash reactivity, human and animal aggression, resource guarding, obssessive compulsion, and more. I have also personally experienced pet medical emergencies- I caught the early stages of bloat in my own dog, allowing veterinary professionals enough time to take life-saving actions; administer daily medications to both dogs and cats, performed enemas, vaccines, microchipping and of course nail trims! As an active person, I love taking dogs for hikes, playing frisbee, or just hanging out in the yard on a nice day! If your pet would like to stay with me, they can expect a full day of play with our 1 year old golden retriever, Dax, who is neutered and up to date on vaccines, and an extremely friendly and submissive player! While caring for your pet in his/her home, I can maintain your typical schedule to keep them comfortable, while sprinkling in enrichment through puzzle toys, basic training, walks, runs and of course cuddle sessions!
Reviews
Kendall is great with Logan. Logan gets to play a lot and most importantly he feel safe with Kendall.
Kendall was awesome! You can tell she is the kind of person who just truly loves animals. She sent daily photos and updates. We will definitely be using her again.
Kendall did a wonderful job with Fluff and Major. This was my first experience using Rover.com and was extremely impressed. Thank you Kendall for taking care of my boys while I was out of town!
Excellent experience! This was my first time using Rover so I was a little nervous, but right away Kendall put me at ease. Throughout the stay she sent pictures of walks and playtime. I could tell my pup was having a great time. Highly recommend Kendall and will certainly be using her services in the future. Thank you for taking such great care of my little guy!

While in my home, your dog will have an extremely friendly and submissive neutered male golden retriever to play with! Dax was actually a rescue from my shelter, and he is a great dog! While there is not a fenced in yard, we have a cable run in the front for quick potty breaks, and a large unfenced yard to run in, where your pup would be on a 25ft biothane long line (think a really long rubber leash) The neighborhood has two parks and a beautiful nature trail across the street - so many new smells to enjoy! I prefer to crate dogs in an XL crate in the home when I am away, but do have a laundry room with a door should a dog not feel comfortable in a crate. While petsitting, I am sure to clear my schedule to make sure I can spend as much time as possible with visiting pups! My boyfriend has two wonderful dog-saavy girls (ages 7 and 10) who are here with us 2 days each week and every other weekend. If booking a stay in my home, I will notify you whether they will or will not be present for any time during the stay, and we can determine if in-home sitting is a better option. At your house, I try to stick to your pets regular schedule and routine to keep them calm and happy while you are away!

Information Kendall S. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if your pet has any behavioral or medical needs in advance so that I can be best prepared to serve you! While I prefer crate trained pups, I can accomodate those who are not. As we have a golden retriever in the home, I do require a dog-friendly pup in my own house, but am happy to watch those who are not in their own homes! If you would like additional behavior training, lets talk about your goals first!
A typical day
I love to engage with the pets that I watch, and having experience in animal behavior, I have a lot of ways I love to do that! Besides walks, pets I watch can expect puzzle toys and playtime, enrichment activities like visiting the splash pad down the street, basic obedience training (if requested) and sniffaris where the walk is at your pups pace and direction!

Availability
I currently work two days per week at the Jefferson County Humane Society, typically on Wednesdays and Thursdays. While these tend to be longer days, I am able to take pets with me to my office at the shelter, and use our facilities (grooming room, large fenced in dog runs, or even playtime with other dogs!) The rest of my week is fairly open, as I intend to make animal care my "other" job!
