Pet care experience
Hello! My name is Kelsey and I want to help you keep your pet happy and healthy! I have owned and loved a variety of creatures throughout my life. Dogs, cats and horses are my core, but I've also had birds, rabbits, hamsters, snakes and fish. I work closely with my small and large animal veterinarians and am comfortable providing basic medical care such as wound treatment and giving shots and medications. As an active person, I look forward to taking your dog for long, mentally stimulating walks, or medium paced 2 mile jogs (no marathon training here!) I believe in creating respect between human and animal, and use the ideals of force free/positive reinforcement training to guide my interactions. My flexible work schedule allows me to drop in for a quick potty break, or work from YOUR home to provide a few hours of companionship for your four-legged family members.
Reviews
Kelsey was the sweetest. Gave lots of snuggles and kisses, and our dog just LOVES HER!
Kelsey is the dog whisper!!!! Love having her walk our doggy!
Kelsey does a fantastic job walking our dog. She is very carrying and playful with Winnie. She sends notifications and pictures of when she picks Winnie up for her walks and where they have gone for the walks. Winnie is much more relaxed on the days Kelsey visits. See is trustworthy and prompt.
Kelsey was so sweet with our dog, and made our first day leaving her home alone SO SMOOTH! We highly recommend Kelsey- thoughtful, sweet, clean, and responds quickly!

Information Kelsey U. would like to know about your pet
I will be as involved or distant from your dog's training and behavior modification as you would like me to be. My personal philosophy is that every moment is, and can be, a teaching moment when presented with pleasing or unpleasing behavior. For example, jumping on guests, pulling on the leash and "bum-rushing" the door is not typically behavior I allow to happen regularly or 'encourage' through lack of correction. While I am not a certified trainer or strictly follow a Positive Reinforcement (+R) approach, I prefer to use force free or light touch methods of behavior modification. Again, this is your animal and I am here to care for them in whatever way will be most beneficial to your relationship in the long-term!
A typical day
I am happy to travel to your neighborhood or take on a house guest! I live on the outskirts of the Normal Park Neighborhood in Ypsilanti, which is an older neighborhood with tree lined streets and multiple parks. My back yard is quite long for a city lot, and is the perfect spot for some one-on-one fetch, or training. I have two cats at my home, so any overnight or long term sitting requires a dog that is OK with felines. Any short term or in-house sitting for a dog that is NOT cat friendly is very manageable with advanced notice.
