Pet care experience
*please note: I will need to bring my dog for any stays longer than 1-2 nights* I’ve been a dog lover for as long as I can remember, and started fostering puppies in high school, quickly learning how much work goes into caring for and training a dog. Since then, I’ve fostered over 30 dogs from 5 lbs to 80 lbs and with a variety of personalities and behavioral issues. I volunteer with a dog rescue regularly, handling dogs that have lived through terrible environments before being rescued. I understand that every dog has their own quirks, and I work with them on what they need to feel comfortable and cared for. I am big on integrating training into everyday activities, and will always use positive reinforcement training techniques and reward good behavior. I’ve worked with dogs that are shut down and shy, reactive, high energy, have physical disabilities, and more. My favorite skills to work on are basic home manners to make the dog more confident and the owner’s life easier. I work on getting them to stop jumping on people, going to “place” when they need to be out of the way, the basics (sit, down, wait), and other fun tricks. I use mental enrichment games and tools like puzzle games, nose work games, frozen licky mats, and more to keep them calm and occupied throughout the day. Feel free to ask about any concerns you may have!
Reviews
Kelsey came through on a last minute request for dog-sitting while my family went out of town. She took excellent care of our beloved pug and even stopped back by our house to let him out one more time before we got back. I highly recommend Kelsey and her doggy Trudy for dog-sitting!
This was my first time using Rover so of course I was a bit hesitant/ nervous. Kelsey was amazing! She made me feel so comfortable with leaving Winnie. Winnie did so great with her and learned lots from her! Will definitely be booking Kelsey again. Thank you Kelsey!!
For years, I have seen Kelsey care for dogs of all ages, breeds, and temperaments. This includes dozens of fosters as well as friend’s dogs and her own. Whether looking after them for an afternoon or months on end, she puts in the work to deliberately encourage good behavior with positive reinforcement on walks, in the yard, and throughout the house. I would trust her wholeheartedly with any dog!
Kelsey is a trusted pet care giver for our reactive pitbull, Tater Tot. She is one of few friends we trust to take Tot out for walks when we're unavailable. Kelsey is comfortable putting a muzzle on Tot, dealing with any reactions she may have to other dogs on walks and tiring her out for an entire afternoon. Kelsey's love for animals is apparent in all her work in her local foster community and would be a great care giver for your pet too :)

I have a sweet, three-legged rescue dog that is 1 year old and loves to play with dog friends of all sizes. I crate my dog when I leave the house and am happy to crate or leave your dog free roam as long as they behave. I have two separate large fenced yards, so I can separate dogs outside if needed. Dogs are allowed on the couch and beds in my home, but I am happy to restrict them from certain areas if needed. I will take the dogs on as many walks as they need throughout the day, and depending on how much exercise they are getting through yard play.

Information Kelsey H. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know of any behavioral quirks that will help me to provide the best care for your pup. If your dog boards at my house, I prefer a crate trained dog, unless they are super mellow. **Any house sitting stays longer than one night will need to allow me to bring my dog as well.**
A typical day
I’ll take the dogs on walks around olde town to sit at coffee shops or breweries. I’ll bring them to parks to have lots of new sniffs every day. I provide lots of enrichment inside the home, including fun training games, puzzle toys, licky mats, and frozen treats.

I work from home full time with a very flexible schedule, so I am available for all pet care services at almost any time of the week. I occasionally travel for work for about 4-5 week days, so I will be unavailable during those weeks.
