Veterinary Nurse, SAHM, fenced yard

Pet care experience

Hello, My name is Kelsea and I currently have over 8 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician, including experience working in both an emergency hospital, and a small animal practice. I have worked also worked with many exotic animals. I have a Bachelors of Animal Science from the University of Massachusetts and truly love all animals. I currently only work part time and am mostly a stay at home mom. I live in a quiet neighborhood away from busy streets. I have a family including a husband, a almost 2yr old son and a daughter under 1. I also have two dogs, Maverick, my male Great Dane, and Atari a female who is a mix of many breeds, but mainly cattle dog. Your pet must be dog and baby/child friendly. I do have gates up in the house to keep different areas separated. (Keeping kitchen, mud room child free). But at times the yard and house will be shared by the kids and pups as long as everyone plays nicely (kids can easily be kept in baby gate area and will be kept a safe distance away while dogs are at play) In work and with my own pets, I try to help animals be fear free. This means I use positive reinforcement to help with a variety of stressful situations. I like to try and keep a consistent routine so that your dog does things that are familiar to them, and use words that they are familiar with so that they can be confident, instead of anxious. If your dog does not go on the couch or bed, then I will follow your rules. If you have a bed or crate you use, you are encouraged to bring it along. Dogs with special needs welcome! I am a Veterinary Technician, I can give any and all medications and follow any medical instructions needed! All dogs must have the following vaccines up to date: Rabies and Distemper. All dogs must have a flea/tick preventative within 3 weeks (or to be applied while visiting). Dogs must have a negative fecal within a year of visiting. I have always been a dog lover. My Nana had a love for all animals that she passed down to me. Growing up, I have always had at least one dog and cat in the family, from Golden Retrievers, Shepherd mixes, Great Danes and even Basset Hounds. I always knew I wanted to work with animals so at 16 I began volunteering on weekends at an Animal Shelter. In high school I had an internship at a Veterinary Hospital, and then I went to school for Animal Science. I currently work in a small animal practice, but have also worked with exotics and in Emergency Hospitals. My Fur-children: Maverick: "Mav" is a 5 year old chocolate Great Dane. He is very friendly and loves running around and playing with his squeaky toys. Maverick grew up attending Doggy Day-Care for the first 3 years of his life. After we adopted his sister, and were able to have someone stay at home for most of the day, we decided to keep Maverick and his sister at home. However they love having play dates with the neighbor dogs. My Yard: We have a great backyard that is fenced in, the yard does have wood panels and cattle fencing along with an invisible fencer that goes along the perimeters. We have one neighbor on the left of the yard who has two dogs, a Golden Retriever and a Lab Mix, however there is a tree line dividing the yards as well as a rock wall and 4ft wire fence. On the back side of the yard is a wire fence and tree line which separates the yard from a large open field. On the right side of the yard, we have a 6 foot wooden fence that separates our yard and a wood lot, where our neighbor stores wood piles that he sells for wood-stoves and campfire. Our yard is very large, plenty of room to run around in a safe, supervised environment. However, if your dog is an escape artist, please keep in mind that the yard in not "Houdini Proof". We did install an invisible fence, which is used with collars because Atari would jump the fence or try to go through it when she was small. Please voice any concerns about your dog trying to escape (We can do a practice play date before the actual stay). Does your fur-baby need extra attention? I am very comfortable giving any type of medication, including injections, pills, trans-dermal medicine etc. I administer medicine every day to many different dogs and cats while at work and know how to handle any kind of medicine they may be on.

She is wonderful! She has amazing experience with animals since she's a veterinary technician. She has watched my dog for me many times from when she was a puppy until now. She's 1.5 years old. Her dogs get along with my pup great! She's available often and does everything I need and ask!! Highly recommend her!

Kelsea is a great dog sitter. She is so loving and gives them so much attention. Our dog Myra loves going there. Myra gets along great with her 2 dogs. They play so well together. We feel so comfortable dropping her off for a day and even a few days without worrying. She sends us pictures and updates us daily through messages. We can enjoy our vacations knowing she is well taken care off. She has a great outdoor area for the dogs to play and inside is very cozy. We highly recommend her!!!!!

Kelsea did an excellent job watching my border collie puppy, Azure. She and her two dogs were so patient with the crazy pup and really tired her out. When my boyfriend Eric picked Azure up later that afternoon he said she slept for a solid 4 hours. I definitely wouldn't hesitate to have her watch Azure again!

Kelsea has shared a love for all animals from a very early age. I'm actually surprised she doesn't own a dolphin as she set a goal at an early age to work with marine animals. She has watched my Dog's and Cat's on numerous occasions and has been very helpful with questions as she works at the veterinarian hospital. Worth every penny, and I believe a little more. 5 STARS!!!!!

Information Kelsea B. would like to know about your pet

I am accepting of all breeds, however I would like to meet your pet before the stay. Your dog must be dog friendly and baby/child friendly. Not all dogs get along with eachother, so I would want to make sure that our dogs warm up to each other so that no one is stressed during their stay. Often it takes a little time for dogs to warm up totally and play nicely, sometimes there is an adjustment period. But usually in the meet in great, we can determine if it is a good fit.

A typical day

We have a few quiet streets around the house that are perfect for walks or jogs. We are well over a mile away from any busy roads, and live in a very quiet, mostly retired neighborhood. Although the fenced in yard is big enough to run and play in, perfect for any activity level. We have many sleeping arrangements available and can accommodate your furbaby's needs. Our dog Maverick (Great Dane) prefers sleeping on his memory foam bed in our bedroom and it is plenty big to share with a friend, while Atari prefers to sleep in the living room on the couch or on their full-size mattress which is on the floor for the dogs to lounge on. We also have multiple crates that can be used if your pup prefers the security of their own den. I am a stay a mostly stay at home mom, so I can be very accommodating. No dogs would ever be left alone for more than a couple of hours (if ever). My dogs always have their breakfast, lunch and dinner and plenty of opportunity to hangout in the yard.
