Compassionate care for your dog

Pet care experience

Hi! I'm Kelly, a dog trainer committed to using force-free techniques while providing your best friend with lots of love, exercise, and enrichment. I volunteered for five years as a dog trainer at the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, then went on to teach Basic Manners group classes. A dog lover my whole life, I've worked with dogs of all shapes and sizes (including those with special training, care, and medical needs). Have any particular training you're working on with your dog? Great! I can help keep that up while you're away. I am available for house sitting (I don't spend the night, but do 3 visits per day and spend about 3 hours with your dog), dog walking and home visits. I commute from Superior to Boulder during the week, so I can easily serve dog guardians in those areas as well as Louisville, Lafayette, and parts of Broomfield. My whole life changed for the better when I got Annie, my 10 year old lab/golden retriever mix, back in 2008. She has been an amazing teacher and friend throughout the years! And I also know how hard it can be to find quality care when you need it. I'd love the opportunity to help you & your sweet dog(s). I'll bring my trusty treat bag, as always. :)

Kelly was absolutely awesome. Despite it being a major holiday week, Kelly gave Sam the best care possible and sent frequent updates. I haven’t been away this long before but Kelly made me feel at ease knowing that he was in great hands. I came home to a happy and healthy pup who had clearly been well-exercised and loved.

Kelly watched our dog Evie over the Thanksgiving break. You can tell Kelly really loves dogs and is great to work with. She's conscientious, reliable, kind, and definitely puts the dog's welfare and happiness first. We're (Evie too) so glad to have found Kelly!

Kelly was a natural and clearly a dog lover. She immediately established rapport with our dog Evie; Evie loved her! We had a nice meet/greet and Kelly was really good about being on time and spending quality time w Evie. Will definitely work with Kelly again.

Kelly is the most loving and patient pet owner and care-giver I know! She has a special way with dogs, both her own and others I have seen her work with - she meets the animal where they are at. She has an innate sense about what they need, and adapts her work to care for them. She loves all animals, and they can sense it. My cat, who is very wary of strangers, full-heartedly wants to be pet and snuggled by Kelly any time she visits. I have never seen her take to someone that isn’t myself or my husband in this way. I recommend her 1000%!

Information Kelly W. would like to know about your pet

No breed restrictions here! I've worked with and trained dogs of all shapes, sizes, ages, and personalities, from chihuahuas to pit bulls to greyhounds to mutts. Some basic info that will allow me to give your dog a quality, positive experience: - Do they have any dietary restrictions? - Are they reactive around other dogs? Other people? On leash? - What's their favorite thing to do? (lounging on the couch, playing with soft toys, etc) - Any behaviors I should know about? (licking their paws, barking, scared of thunder/loud noises, food guarding, etc) - What's their vet's name, phone number, and location? Do they take any medications? This information will help lessen the learning curve and help me to prepare in advance to make our visit a great one!

A typical day

Walks will be around your neighborhood so we can make the most of our time together. A familiar environment, plus lots of yummy treats, will let us get to know one another and establish a trusting relationship. If there's a fenced area handy (like your backyard or a nearby dog park), then we'll have fun playing fetch or just running around. My first priority is always to keep your dog safe, healthy, and happy during our time together. I'll also provide you with lots of updates and photos to let you know how things are going. Communication is key!
