Dog Camp,RiverTrips,Fenced Acreage!

Pet care experience

Hi I’m Kelly, I spend my summers in Montana. I have 2 acres of fenced property located between Whitefish and Columbia Falls. My Doggy Haven is 30 min(23 mile drive) from Glacier West Entrance. I have a 2 dog kennel for when needed, and I allow a maximum of 3 guest dogs per day. I cost a bit more, but rest assured, your dog will be having an exhilarating day just as you are! I am a certified professional dog trainer (CPDT) based out of Santa Cruz California, and also certified in Pet First Aid. I volunteer at my community shelter and have experience with many varieties of dogs, their unique personalities and behaviors. Rest assured, your pup will be under excellent care while you can't be with them! Anyone planning a day, backpack, or raft trip and needing care for their pups while visiting anywhere you aren't able to take your dog 🙃, should contact me. I’ll be keeping them active with dog friendly hikes and river outings! I share my 2 acre property with two rescue dogs, Buffalo, a Jack Russell mix and Roo, an Australian Cattle Dog. My mantra-“Keep Calm and Dog On!” Your dog will be under my care 24/7 with a daily trip to the Flathead river or a dog friendly hike (I know lots of them!). They will have the freedom to socialize with the other (maximum 4) dogs throughout the day in my fenced property. The kennel is for sleeping and shelter, not their mainstay. We go on hikes/walks in the morning when it is cool, and to the river in the afternoon when it is hot. Every Day. I live in a rustic minimalist environment in a tiny home. My forested and fenced property offers security from wild animals. My property has lots of room to roam and sniff around for enrichment. Your dog can sleep on the floor in my tiny home. During the day they have freedom to roam and explore the fenced in wild yonder! We spend most of out time outdoors and your dog will too, but there is always shelter available from any storm

I am positive that Rainie had the best time ever with Kelly and her dogs! It was amazing to get to feel confident leaving my pup with Kelly. She sent me great pictures and updates, and got Rainie plenty of exercise and chill time. Rainie would love to stay with Kelly again!

Kelly is so awesome! Charley had such a fun day playing at her house and on a trip to the river. My mom and I were able tk have a great day hiking in glacier knowing Charley was safe and having fun! Would highly recommend Kelly!

Awesome! Our dog had an incredible time staying with Kelly. Kelly communicated well, was responsive and responsible with our dog. Gracie got to play with other dogs, go on long walks and even go for a swim! Kelly sent lots of photos and took very good care of our pup. Her place has such wonderful outdoor areas for dogs and she is knowledgeable about dog behavior and care. Highly recommend!

Our pup, Loki, had a great time with Kelly. Loki has joint challenges and doc has advised us to not strain him. Kelly was extremely accommodating and made sure to ask us all the care details when we were checking in. Kelly made sure to send us constant updates. We were in the park so had network issues but it was really comforting to see Loki’s pictures (resting, nature walks, play, swim) whenever we got any cellphone signal. Highly recommend and will definitely contact Kelly when we come back to Glacier!

I am grateful to offer a unique experience for traveling dogs. My favorite river trips are when one dog shows another how to swim! Important information to note: Although I have 2 acres of fenced property for dogs to enjoy, the fence is a field fence where some spots have a gap where the ground meets fence and they could push on it to get underneath. It is designed for keeping wildlife out. If your dog is an escape artist, they will most likely be able to get out, so please consider if other visiting dogs are roaming free, this will likely stress your dog out if they must remain on a tether. I don't recommend this arrangement. Additionally, I keep my drop off/pick up times Between 8 AM and 8 PM. Please consider boarding your dog the night before if you would like to get an earlier start (or end) to your day

Information Kelly V. would like to know about your pet

Medical issues? Resource guarding? Favorite activities and activity level? Reactivity? Because I have two dogs of my own that they will be sharing space with, your dog must have a solid history of positive dog interactions for dog day care/boarding services. All breeds welcome, but no incessant barkers, escape artists, hyper active or nervous dogs that are unable to settle please. (I love all dogs, but my own dogs require chill time and non-stop active dogs who aren’t good at taking social cues are not a good fit for them)

A typical day

We go to the Flathead river daily and swim or hike. I like to take the dogs on at least a 3 mile hike. Is your doggy up for it? We all pile in my mini cargo van and head out for a fun adventure even if your dog is not a swimmer!

My dogs and I are active (I more than them😝). We hike or get out to the river daily. Boarding dogs and working on my property is all I do as a working vacation for the summertime. Your dog will be under my care and supervision 24/7 unless I need to run a quick errand and it’s too hot for them to be left in my vehicle
