All Your Fur Baby Needs under Woof!
Pet care experience
Need a doggy sitter!? I'm here to help! Having been in your situation, I understand the care you want your dog to have. My lab mix rescue Raha and I would love to welcome your pup into our home in Lakewood. Growing up on a hobby farm in southeastern Minnesota, I have been the caretaker of multiple dogs, cats, and horses since my teenage years and I have watched my friends' dogs as well when they have been out of town. From these experiences, which include training 18 horses (natural horsemanship method) and showing horses on a regional circuit plus 4H, I am well versed in many important principles of animal training and behavior. The 'bookings with photo updates' rate listed on my profile is low (at the moment it's 30%). This is because I usually set up a dedicated album in Google photos, send you the link, and add all the photos and videos from your dog's stay into that collection. I LOVE taking dog photos and it's just a more seamless experience to add them to the Google album than to use the Rover app. However, I am flexible on this and if you have a different preference in how you receive photos, I am all ears and flexible.

Kelly gave me “peace of mind” while I vacationed. It was obvious that my two Shih Tzus were well-cared for and were comfortable in her home. It’s obvious she loves animals. One of the dogs developed a medical condition three days before my trip. She competently administered the three prescriptions throughout their stay. She kept the same routine the dogs were used to which I ‘m sure provided a sense of security for them. I highly recommend her.
Another great visit for Beans - thank you, Kelly!
Can’t recommend Kelly enough! She is very thorough and helpful when caring for my dog, Beans. For the longest time, I’ve always relied on friends in town to watch him or one go-to pet sitter from Rover but he moved out of state recently. Prior to my trip, Kelly and I took our dogs on a short walk as a meet and greet to make sure her dog, Saha, and my dog would be manageable together. The whole time I was away, she sent photos and provided updates, and it looked like Beans and Saha became pals during Beans’ week-long visit. Highly recommend and would love to call on Kelly again for future trips! Thank you Kelly!
Kelly is amazing! Theo had so much fun while we were out of town. He played, went on walks, and hiked. He had his own vacation!

PLEASE READ: Raha gets excitable upon meeting a new dog for the first time, and the source of this is nervousness about the other dog. He requires a slow introduction. For this reason, for new clients, please reach out to me at least three days in advance of your planned travel so that we can schedule a meet and greet prior to committing to plans. When you reach out, please indicate some windows of availability during daylight hours for the meet and greet. We will start out in my front yard and take the dogs on an ~10 - 15 minute walk together. As we move along the path, they will get used to being around each other and start to develop a sense of one another's movements and smells. Then, heading back towards the house, I will let Raha into my backyard and the dogs will interact across the fence. Finally, your pup will explore my house, sniff around and I'll show you around while Raha remains in the backyard. The dogs will not interact freely on the first day; instead, over the course of multiple interactions and with the use of a baby gate to separate rooms, will get used to being in one another's space and as they show signs of calm and ease I will facilitate increased interaction. Pending how this goes, we can decide to move forward with the booking, or not. This slow approach has worked best for me and Raha, and is how I respect and maintain Raha's sense of security in his home. I have a single family home with fenced-in backyard. My sofa is protected by a waterproof, durable cover and your pet will be allowed to hang out there, though I don't allow pets on my other furniture. I have a crate in my home if needed, a Lakewood open space abutting my property, and access to networks of trails for plenty of fun and exercise. It's just me, my boyfriend, and Raha here most of the time (no kids, no cats). I love to take photos and will joyfully provide daily photo updates throughout your pet's stay. It's helpful to know what events and things trigger your dog in advance, for example, squirrels, other dogs, the UPS man, etc.so that I am prepared to provide them the best care possible. I also wish to know how your dog behaves and what measures may need to be taken when she or he is left home alone for a few hours i.e., can s/he be trusted to be left openly in the house, or is s/he trained for crating/would crating be recommended?

Information Kelly S. would like to know about your pet
Food allergies/preferences, medication, health issues and any other critical information in regards to your fur baby is important for me to care for them while you are away.
A typical day
I will care for your dog in my home per your instructions, along with providing lots of love so they are comfortable while you are away. Generally I take Raha on one long walk in the late afternoon, but I am flexible on this if your pup is used to more frequent walks or may need to be walked at different times of day. If your pooch has a weekend stay, Raha and I would love to take him with us on a good long hike. Given that I am home most of the time, I am able to offer very flexible pickup/drop off times.

Availability
I'm a work-from-home public health program evaluator so I have ample time to take breaks throughout the day to shower your pup with affection and belly rubs. Raha hangs out with me in my office on his bed while I work during the day, and I could set your dog up right next to him.
