Because of Dogs
Pet care experience
Hey there, thank you for considering me to care for your best buddy! I have had pets -- dogs, cats, and once a chinchilla -- my entire life and cannot imagine life without them as part of it. I'm also known as the Dog Treat Lady at many of the local farmers markets, so you might have seen me around! I will walk any size and breed as long as they are friendly with other dogs and people, and my own dogs, Roxie and Lillie, will often join our walks. I require dogs to have basic obedience, and are able to walk without tugging or lunging. All animals in my care must be on flea and tick prevention year round, as well as up to date on all vaccinations including Bordetella for both dogs and cats, and panleukopenia (feline distemper), feline leukemia virus (FeLV), and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) for cats. All animals also must be spayed or neutered. I do require a meet and greet before committing. This gives us a chance to talk about your pets and any particular questions or concerns that you might have. Therefore, for new clients, I may need more than a week's notice for booking requests, particularly boarding. For dog walks this is also when you will show me where their leash is (No retractable leashes please!), and discuss anything else I should know. More importantly, it gives your dog a chance to meet me and get familiar with my scent so they recognize me and feel comfortable when I return without you there for their midday walk, or if you request the service of pick up and drop off for boarding. I do live in an apartment, and while I don't have a yard, I do have a small enclosed patio, and plenty of places to walk. I’m excited to start taking adventures with your pets! I am insured beyond the Rover Guarantee. ***While I am fine with light rain or snow, I don’t walk in inclement weather (ie major storms, thunder and lightning, torrential rain, heavy snow, etc. As long as the roads are safe, however, I will be happy to let your dog out midday to do their business and play inside, if you still need to go to work.)
Reviews
Kelly has been walking my dog for several weeks, and she is terrific! My dog is a bit hesitant with new people at first, but she warmed up to Kelly right away. Kelly is super responsible, kind, excellent at communicating, and very gentle and caring with my dog. I highly recommend her!
My cats were well cared for and Kelly kept me up to date on how they were doing while I was away. I would recommend her highly!!
Kelly was very responsive and made sure she knew what my dog needed while I was gone and took a lot of pictures of my pup on her walk which I loved! Will use her again. Highly recommend. Thank you for taking such good care of Maisy!
This is the third that we have had Kelly visit our kitties. We are always more comfortable when away knowing they are in great hands! She is great about updates and photos. We will definitely continue to request her services and highly recommend!

I am insured beyond the Rover guarantee. I have a gate to separate pets, and an extra room for cats in particular, but dogs as well, since I don't take clients from separate homes at the moment. This also allows for feeding separately. I do have a crate if your dog prefers it. I allow pets on my furniture (actually encourage it for snuggling!).
Information Kelly M. would like to know about your pet
I accept any breed and size as long as they walk well on a leash, and show no signs of aggression. Must be up to date on all vaccinations, including Bordatella, as well as flea and tick prevention.
A typical day
All walks will be in your neighborhood, or we will hike a trail if one is near your home. I also am happy to take dogs to the park if one is close by and the visit fits within our allotted time.

Availability
For walks and drop in visits, clients will choose from my available pick up/visit windows as following: 8-9am 9:15-10:15am 10:30-11:30am 11:45am-12:45pm 1-2pm 2:15-3:15pm I might have occasional later appointment available, but am generally working on my dog treat business at night and during weekends. Through mid-October, I will not be available for walks and drop ins on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Because I also walk dogs and work at the farmers markets, there will be days that I am away from home for almost a full workday - maybe 7 hours. Generally that happens on the weekends, but I will discuss my calendar with you before accepting your booking request to be sure you're comfortable.
