Pet care experience
I have grown up with pets my whole life and have a cat and dog of my own. I have a 9 yo domestic longhair cat, Sylvie, who I have raised since she was a kitten. I also rescued a Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund mix) about 2 years ago from an animal shelter. In college, I worked at a dog/cat kennel for a year, where I gained experience feeding, watering, walking, playing with, and giving medications to cats and dogs. In undergrad, I did 2 years of pre-veterinarian Animal Science before switching majors. During the pandemic, I worked at a local animal shelter as an Animal Control Officer for a little over a year. This job gave me a wide range of experience with all types of animals from everyday care to more serious medical issues and dangerous situations. After that job, I can pretty much handle any situation when it comes to animals. After leaving the shelter, I still continue to foster orphaned kittens until they are an adoptable age. My cat and dog are very happy animals (I mean, they haven't told me otherwise lol), and I know I can make your pets happy too. Animals have been a huge part of my life and are a passion of mine.

Kelly was great - very communicative and sent pictures, she went above and beyond even doing a load of laundry for us when house sitting (dirty towels). We will definitely be using her again in the future!

When caring for pets in a client's home, I like to do a thorough walkthrough of the routines the owners already have in place and ask as many questions I can think of. The more detailed, the better care I can take. I respect all the owner's rules to a T. Whether it be weird food requests, difficult to administer medications, or longer potty breaks that take a very watchful eye, I am equipped to do it all.

I like to know about the temperament of the dog, if they have any funny quirks I should be aware of, what their favorite toys are, if they know any tricks, and if they have any serious medical or bite history.
A typical day
With my previous experience at the animal shelter, I learned many different types of enrichments for cats and dogs that would be fun to do with the pets (with the owner's permission of course). As for walks, if there is a close by park or walking trail that would be ideal. Otherwise, sticking to safe sidewalks and neighborhoods would do just fine. If the owner already has a route they prefer in place, I can just stick to that.

Availability
I am currently unemployed, but am actively searching for a job. Until I secure a job, I am looking to do Rover as frequently as possible. Once I do get a job, I still plan on gaining new clients and working with previous clients to best suit their pet needs if I am available.
