I will be your pet’s new bff!

Pet care experience

I have grown up with dogs most of my life. I have been the “go to” for all of my family and friends, and recently started taking on friends of friends pets! I love them all like they are my own! *For now I’m not offering boarding, or staying overnight at your house,* I’m taking this slow, but that is what I have primarily been doing for the past 17 years for my family and friends, as well as just the drop in visits when that’s what they needed. I have also volunteered for “mascot training” with 4 Paws for Ability to prepare their service dogs for interactions with costumed characters so they are not distracted and can take care of their human. I take the doggos on walks, trips to the dog park, a stop for a pup cup or a pupsicle, and lots and lots of petting, snuggling and playing. Fireworks going off and they are scared? I will wrap them in a blanket over their ears and hold them (no matter how big) on my lap and comfort them. I’ve been told I make a delicious peanut butter dog treat… well, not in words exactly, but in kisses and wiggly butts! I want your dog to be happy and comfortable always! I have in the past year started watching a few friends cats. I am not as familiar with them, as I never grew up with them, but I will love on them the same (if they let me!) I have had to give insulin shots to one of my friends cats, and pills/meds daily to others. All I ask is a description of how they are most comfortable if this is a thing I will need to do, or tricks you have to get them to take it. Otherwise, I love to snuggle and pet them, and play if they will let me!

Kelly has taken care of our dog Cooper. She is so good and loving with him that he would follow her out to her car wanting to go with her. We trust her to keep Cooper safe and loved. She is very reliable to give our dog everything he needs while we're away.

Kelly watched my cats while my family was out of town for a week. She did an amazing job! One of our cats requires medication which she ably administered. When we came home, the cats were all content, the litter box clean, and the food and water dishes were full. She frequently sent pictures of the cats playing and cuddling. I had her back for a visit after we returned, and they all ran to her for attention. Kelly is very professional and quick to respond to messages. I'm very pleased with Kelly's work and will hire her again!

I can’t say enough good things about Kelly! She came and stayed with my Briggs and took update photos and videos throughout the trip, which I highly appreciated! Kept in constant contact as well! She kept him well exercised and let him chase his ball over and over and over again. Having Kelly watch Briggs have me peace of mind that he’s safe, happy and well taken care of!

My family was going to be away for two full weeks. I have four cats, one of whom needs daily medication and three who need a LOT attention. There are aggression issues and 3/4 of them need to be kept apart 100% of the time. This is not a simple job and the risk of messing it up ends in serious injury to the cats. Needless to say, not just anyone can take my place when I’m gone. Kelly took all of this craziness on, and sent me daily photos and updates. There was a large time difference Kelly was always thoughtful about. My cat who is fear-aggressive warmed to Kelly so quickly. I would and will absolutely hire Kelly again to care for my crazy pack of cats.

While I am NOT currently offering boarding or doggy daycare in my home/doing overnight stays at the client’s home, I may in the future to people outside of close friends and family. The following is more informative to help you know me and how I will care for your pet! In my home, I have temporary fencing that is 36” high up in my yard, as well as tie outs just in case. I make sure there is water outside always, and my yard has plenty of shade. I do not have my entire yard open, because I like to be able to see them at night when they go out, just in case. I do have multiple outdoor lights, but I’d rather be safe. I have a large and medium folding dog crate and many comfy beds. I try to keep treats and rawhide free bones around to make them happy! There are also a variety of ropes and balls to play with. In my house, I try to make sure there isn’t anything they can get into at their level that can be dangerous. I look at it like a toddler, if my son when he was little could find it, a dog will too. I try to make them as comfortable as they would be at home. I just ask that I know their schedule as well as what they are used to, and any other pertinent information up front. In your home, I would treat it like my own, and make sure your pets are safe and happy. I’d follow the instructions you have laid out for what they are accustomed to, and make sure that it’s left in the same condition it was when I got there, sans messes the pets might have made! I would clean that up. I really feel that a meet and greet is important. The pets should know who I am, and I should know who they are and see how they are in the environment I will be interacting with them. This is for all of our safety. I have a teenage son. If the dog will be at my home for ANY amount of time, IT IS REQUIRED THAT A MEET AND GREET IS SCHEDULED WHEN HE IS AVAILABLE AND AT MY HOME. This is for all of our safety. This is something I am VERY serious about and I WILL NOT be taking anyone’s word on it. Unfortunately, a situation had occurred which lead to this, and I DO NOT want to put my son, the dog, myself, or the owner through that ever again. The sweetest, most kind dogs can have a past we don’t know, and can be reactive at any time without prior incident. He will NEVER be with me on drop-in visits or drop-in walks, though he does live here so I may have residual “teen air” on my person :)

Information Kelly G. would like to know about your pet

-Are any special needs/medications/allergies? This INCLUDES food sensitivities. -Any behavior I should be aware of? -Do they like kids/Boys in particular? -What commands and behaviors you’d like me to uphold? -What is their routine? When do they like to do certain thing? -How are they on walks? Do they pull? This is very important for me to know, because I have limited strength. -How do they play? Are they mouthy when they do? -Is there any reason I may need to lift your dog? (Again, strength issues) -Do they have a favorite park/path? Favorite dog park? -Are they reactive? Do I need to take precautions when walking them? -If this is a drop in to let your pet out to go to the restroom, are they the type that needs to go on a walk to poop? Do you let them out in a secure area, or use a leash? Where would you prefer the waste be thrown away? -Anything you feel is important! This is your family member, and I want to make sure they feel comfortable!

A typical day

I’m pretty low key, but I love taking walks, going to dog parks, and playing fetch… even if it ends up it is me who’s getting the ball. I do lots of petting, snuggling, and most importantly belly rubs and ear scratches!

Currently I am home all of the time due to disabilities caused from a covid-19 infection over 3 years ago. My schedule is rather unpredictable sometimes due to medical needs/symptoms flares of my chronic condition, but if I commit to you, I will find a way to make it work. The time blocks I said I’m available are also to an extent flexible, just ask! I didn’t want to say available at 6am, because no. Definitely asleep. But 9am on? Sure!! Same with the 10pm… that’s REALLY late for me, but it doesn’t give more nuanced ranges. Really, if you have questions, just ask!
