Pet care experience
I am a highly skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician, currently working at a local animal hospital. I have advanced knowledge of diseases, disabilities, medications and special foods. You don't have to worry if your pet is in good hands with me. They will be loved as if they were my own. I specialize in special needs pets. If your pet has recently been put on a medication that is difficult for you to administer and you want to learn some tricks of the trade, I am your girl. We can go over all of your pets' needs, and I won't leave until you are satisfied. If they have a hard time getting around or have a disability or sickness, we can go over some things to make it easier for everybody in the home. Who better to trust the health and well-being of your furry loved ones than a Licensed Veterinary Technician? I graduated from an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technician program here on Long Island, and became a Licensed Vet Tech in 2012. I have been working at a local animal hospital since 2005, and have been pet-sitting since about 2003. Why I love dog sitting I have loved all animals since I was a small child. From the age of five I knew that I wanted to get into the veterinary field. I grew up with cats and German Shepherds, and a blind labrador retriever/border collie mix. Now, I have a chocolate lab mix named Bonnie that was rescued from a high-kill shelter, a lab mix named Parker that I nursed back to health from Parvovirus, a patterdale Terrier mix named Skip whom I rescued from a hoarding situation, and a pit bull named Fergie that I rescued from a SPCA seizure. I also have a cockatiel named Pepper that I rescued and just adore. My experience administering medication As a Licensed Veterinary Technician, I administer medications every day to all types of animals. Pills, liquids, topical and injections. Not only am I confident in administering medications, I can help the owners by showing them tricks of the trade to make it easier at home. Now that my two kids are a little older, I have more time on my hands to get back to pet sitting. I am up early and go to bed pretty late, and have a very flexible work schedule. I do not currently live with dogs, but am looking to fill my home with the joy and love a dog brings. I understand it can be difficult to find someone to board your pet in their home, and can provide that niche. I have 3+ acres of beautiful land. I have baby gates and a crate should your dog require them.
Reviews
Our two standard poodles loved their weekend with Kelly! Kelly is very easy to communicate with and took top-notch care of our dogs. Loved seeing her kids befriend the poodles too. Rocco and Diego were very comfortable at Kelly's, which isn't always the case when they stay with people for the first time. Will definitely book again!
Josie (and us) thoroughly enjoyed her time with Kelly. Plenty of room to roam (but Josie sleeps most of the time and relished her sleepy time at Kelly's). Highly recommend Kelly when you need a sitter. Bonus that she's a Vet Tech, so she know pets!
Kelly took care of my 7 year old Doberman while my family and I vacationed nearby. She was communicative, thorough, and trustworthy. I’m so grateful I came across her profile and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her services to other families looking for a loving, responsible caretaker.
Kelly was thoughtful, her young children were very sweet, and our dog came home happy. She sometimes gets anxious staying somewhere new but that did not seem to be the case this time, thanks to Kelly and her family!

Information Kelly D. would like to know about your pet
Absolutely no breed preferences. I have worked with all types of dogs, from the bouncy lick-you-to-death dogs, to the very timid and fearful. The only things I need to know are how the dog is with strangers so I can come prepared, and if they have any special needs.
A typical day
I have 3+ acres of park-like land, with a pond, hills, and a horse paddock (no horses). Walking your dog would be a treat for both the dog and myself. I'm always up for a good game of fetch or frisbee, and if time allows, I love taking dogs to the beach.
