While I have only owned my first dog for a little over a year, I have had plenty of experience looking after dogs from family members and friends. For instance, while I was growing up, I would look after my aunt's dogs during the summers that I would spend with them. This meant that I took them walks, fed them, and even cleaned up after them. Recently I adopted my first dog who is a mixed breed and was also left abandoned. He came with anxiety and trust issues but we have been working through it together with lots of love, training, and care. While he is not at 100 percent, he has turned into the most lovable and caring dog that you can imagine and I can't imagine my life without him. My roommate also has a small dog, which I have loved and adored as if he was mine own. Also, as a graduate student I've come to realize that being around dogs have been a great stress relief for me so I have grown to love being around dogs. I recently had to take care of my sister's dog in a time of distress. The dog was skittish and scared but within a couple of days staying with me, she became her happy and playful self again.
