Pet care experience
I worked for a previous dog care company for almost two years before switching to Rover. I have been working with my own dogs as well as those of friends and family for years. When I was younger I would volunteer at the local animal shelter and knew I wanted to grow up working with pets. If your dog has a hard time with strangers or meeting new people please let me know as it makes my job a little easier. Also if your dog needs any type of medication please let me know in your first message as you are booking, thank you! -I am now doing walks or drop-in visits for Waterbury and North Haven, Connecticut. North Haven clients should book later in the day if possible.

Once again we had a great experience!
I'm always a little nervous when leaving my dog, Kayla, with someone new because she is a rescue that was abused so she has trust issues with new people. Keara, however, took excellent care of Kayla. She kept us updated with texts and photos and has been very reliable and even accommodating to our schedule. Kayla came home happy and we already have plans for Keara to watch Kayla again in June and July!
I have known Keara for over 20 years. She has a strong love for animals. She loves caring for animals and her dogs and she pays great attention to their well being. She also finds great joy playing and walking her dogs. She is very connected to her animals and has a strong intuition regarding her pets.
Keara Smit is an accountable and caring person, I am Keara’s fiancé and I work very long hours leaving Keara to care for our two amazing dogs Jasper and Tobi. She does a wonderful job with them and not surprising because she grew up in a household that always had multiple dogs at all times. Keara is dependable and kind, without a doubt I believe she will continue to be a responsible and loving dog caregiver. I'd like to know if they need medicine and how you normally give it to them. I'd also like to know if they have allergies. Of course I'd also like to know if they are skittish in some situations and what their triggers are if any. (Example: Squirrels, chasing cars, etc.) I do not have any breed preferences.
A typical day
I try to go to more scenic places for walks if able and sort of away from the hustle and bustle of main roads. I'm definitely okay with hikes as well since I use that to tire out my father's husky!
