Pet care experience

I’ve been a dog owner and animal lover my entire life and I’ve had 8 dogs in my life to date! My wife and I are huge dog lovers and together we’ve had 4 fostering experiences (2 dogs, 11 puppies, 4 kittens), and we have 4 lovely dogs of our own between the ages of 4 and 7. We have no current fosters, no children nor other housemates, nor cats nor any other pets. They all love other friendly dogs and would love to keep yours company! If you’re interested to know more about them, click on their profiles to read their details and see photos of them with their friends! I’ve worked as a dog walker, pet/house sitter, and boarding host for over 10 years, but I now only offer dog boarding/daycare and pet drop-ins. Despite being a dog enthusiast through and through, I’ve also cared for turtles, rabbits, birds, frogs, snakes, chickens, hermit crabs, fish, and plants. I’m educated in dog behavior and body language as well as breed-specific traits (scenthounds sniff and bay, herders herd, sighthounds chase, Siberians can be talented escape artists, Boxers jump, terriers hunt vermin, guardian breeds guard, retrievers are more biddable, primitive breeds are more independent, etc.) and potential issues (GDV/bloat, hip dysplasia, collapsed trachea, etc.), and I know how to monitor interactions and play between dogs to keep everyone happy and safe. I have 3.5 years of experience working for a dog daycare/boarding/training/grooming facility where I helped supervise and care for anywhere between 100-250 dogs at a time, of various breeds, ages, temperaments, behavioral issues, and special needs (deafness, blindness, etc.). My wife was also the GM of said facility, and like me, has 10+ years of experience working with dogs, and is CPR-certified. They have weekends off, so my weekend clients will enjoy double the supervision and double the lovin’s! Request to book me today - I can't wait to meet your dogs and other pets! Note: ALL dogs under 2 years old will be charged the puppy rate.

She takes such good care of the dogs and was so patient with them! So happy they stayed with KC, and I had peace of mind during my travels knowing they were with her.

Our dogs had a great time with KC and her dogs. She was very accommodating to our schedule and late notice as we needed day care just two days before booking. We have two Great Danes, one is deaf and the other is very alpha and she had no problems and managed them with ease! We had very happy and tired pups after!

KC was absolutely wonderful. It was apparent how much they loved our dogs. The videos, pictures, and texts showed us how quickly KC picked up on our dogs' small little quirks. It also showed how happy our dogs were all weekend. We literally cannot be more happy with KC and would definitely recommend to anyone.

KC was great and Leela had a great time. I loved that KC kept me updated throughout Leela’s stay with photos and texts. When we got home, Leela slept for HOURS. She definitely got a good amount to activity and play. Would definitely use KC again.

Safety, trust & environment

I live in a one-story house in Tower Grove South with a fully fenced backyard. One side of the fence is 4’ chain link with keypad entry and the other 2 sides are 6’ privacy fence with a back gate requiring inside-the-yard keyed entry. I never leave any dog outside unattended for any period of time, and I have a long cable tie-out installed on a sturdy, metal clothesline post in case your dog needs it for any reason (such as dogs who can climb/jump chain link fencing). I have never had a dog escape from my care, and I employ safe practices such as using back-up leash attachments, utilizing pet gates, separating dogs during feedings, and always double-checking that doors/gates are securely closed/locked behind me. I never feed dogs without owners’ permission/instruction—Fido will not be getting any table scraps or extra treats in my home as a safety precaution.

Information KC M. would like to know about your pet

Before boarding a dog, I would like to know what kinds of things you expect from them, and what types of behaviors you allow them to do and not do, so I can replicate your dog-parenting style as closely as possible. This ensures two things—an understood social dynamic within my care; and a smooth transition to normalcy once they are back in your care, which can be especially important for long stays. Does your dog usually take naps? Does your dog need midnight potty breaks? Are you aware of any “triggers” they may have? Do they resource-guard (food, people, furniture, toys, etc.)? Have they ever had a seizure before? What is their overall temperament and energy level? Any details are helpful in caring for your dog(s). Additionally, I encourage you to bring your dogs’ favorite toys, training treats, rawhide-free chews, bedtime treats, slow feeder bowls, beds/blankets, ThunderShirts, crates, male belly bands if they tend to mark, sunscreen, warm clothing, something with your scent on it, CBD, and/or prescribed anti-anxiety medications. If your dog starts to destroy one of their toys, beds, or blankets I will put it out of reach and give it back to you at pick-up. I do NOT allow retractable leashes, rawhides, laser pointers, or XDOG weighted vests (backpacks with up to 10% of your dog’s weight are ok). Prong collar users: I will only accept/use *Herm Sprenger* or Kimberland prong collars, and only if the collars are correctly sized and fitted. E-collar users: I don’t have much experience with e-collars but if you’d like to instruct me how to use yours to communicate with your dog, I’d be happy to learn. Muzzle users: I will only accept bite-proof muzzles, so no soft/sleeve/grooming muzzles, Baskervilles, and the like—wire or vinyl basket muzzles only. Per local law, you are required to have your dog(s) leashed or in a pet carrier during pick-up and drop-off. Thank you for your compliance!

A typical day

A typical day in my house depends on the energy level of the dog(s) I’m caring for. Puppies and high-energy dogs get plenty of playtime indoors and in my backyard, while seniors and lower energy dogs are allowed to rest and relax to their hearts’ content, wherever they please (unless you don’t allow them on furniture). We have several dog beds of various sizes and styles, from the Great Dane-sized Big Barker Sofa orthopedic sofa mattress to small donut-style beds. During the summertime, your pup(s) will have access to both an XL dog pool and a kiddie pool! We also have a few raised dog cots, perfect for those who love sunbathing, though I’ve found many prefer the deck itself or the patio below! I typically do not walk dogs around my neighborhood unless requested and discussed beforehand due to my asthma, hazardous weather conditions, and the high number of stray/unleashed dogs and encounters I’ve had in the past. If your dog(s) *needs* to be walked, please mention this and we may or may not be able to work something out!
