Pet care experience
I have had pets all my life, and I have had dogs since I was at least 14 years old. Both my old girls (pictured) have passed away within the last year so I’m really missing being around dogs. I am well experienced in training puppies and dogs on the basics like sit, stay, heel, and fetch. I am experienced at walking them at a moderate pace on a leash and I can help with any dogs who struggle with this. I am kind and patient, but firm. If you’re struggling with getting your dog to follow the basic commands, I feel I can be trusted to assist you with that. I look forward to getting my own exercise in as well as the dog’s!

Kayla was wonderful with my dogs, even with the challenges of my aging Corey who has become messy for a lack of a better way to put it! :) She went above and beyond for them while I was away and kept me in the loop the whole time! I recommend Kayla and I will be using her in the future!

I have a large fenced yard and I am right next to Independence Park, so we can get lots of exercise in. If the dog is well-trained, we can even go off leash! It’s just me and my husband and my two cats here, so it’s a calm quiet household usually, but if your dogs are barkers, that’s OK, because most of my neighbors dogs are barkers too lol Cats can be assured of an unstressful experience.

I have been around all sizes shapes and breeds of dogs, so very little fazes me. I just need to know what I’m dealing with. Knowing if they have something that upsets them, for example. I can deal with pretty much any temperament, even the grouches. Honestly I can even handle an aggressive dog. My dog growing up was a 130lb Gray (timber) Wolf/German Shepherd hybrid, then there was a Rottweiler, and most recently a pit bull. I am perfectly comfortable around mean or fear aggressive dogs and know how to read them, when not to come too close, and how to get out of a dicey situation without hurting the dog or me. I can charm even the grouchiest of grumps. Of course I cheat with treats lol If you’ve been having trouble finding someone who can handle your doggo, let me try.
A typical day
I have a minor knee issue which means I can’t take the dog for a run, but we can take long walks! If your dog can play fetch, we can totally do that at an off-leash nearby park or in your yard!

Availability
I am a substitute teacher through the school year, so all summer I am available during most hours, within reason. I am also available in emergencies when you need someone to be able to get to your pet right away.
