Pet care experience
Our family always owned pets growing up, from ferrets, to birds and dogs, but the family pet that sticks out most in my mind was our Rottweiler. He taught me that dogs are loyal and innocent creatures who only want to be loved and it’s our responsibility as their owner to give that to them. Our pup ended up having to be put down due to a tumor that resulted because of ignorant teenagers throwing rocks at him. That event was traumatizing and the only way for me to grow from it was to pledge to protect and love the other animals I care for in his memory. I’ve been pet sitting for 8 plus years now and also have professional experience volunteering at the Humane Society in Keene, New Hampshire. My shifts started at 6 a.m. and I would clean kennels, walk the dogs, do laundry, make the animals beds and feed them. I also have a mini lop bunny rabbit at home named Brandy, who has been a part of my family for years now. Caring for her has been an absolute joy! I’m a trustworthy and above all, honest person who stays active and lives a fruitful and healthy life. I love being in nature and spending time with a pup outdoors while on a walk or playing a game of fetch or tug. My clients appreciate the fact that I send photos and videos of all the games and activities me and the pups get up to during our time together, and I’m always sure to include relevant bits of information that helps detail how our day is going. SLEEP SITUATION I have a room dedicated to pups. lots of space, camera set up so i can observe intermittently if i step out, beds, crates, blankets, toys, etc. the door is always open so the pups (if not in the crate) can roam. the rooms are air purified and AC / Heat throughout for comfort. filtered water and treats available. i wake at 530/6 am, shortly after we are ready to go out the door for walk (usually eat first) then walk, depends on owners routine and preference. FOOD/TREATS i love to bake and cook. i have experience in functional medicine/nutrition so what goes into the body is critical (no junk), same for dogs, all of the treats and food items i provide are made of whole ingredients (no fillers, or ingredients we cant pronounce in packaged treats and food) i am aware of the list of poisonous food items for dogs! if you would like me to make something specific for your pup please send me a recipe and i will provide those treats (in addition to the food you bring for home for normal feeding hours) i like to have organic chicken breast poached, on hand ,for treats and training. i do recommend a slow feeding bowl.

Katrina was super flexible and incredibly good with my pup! Dog came hope very happy and very calm, which is rare after overnight stays. Definitely recommend!!
Really sweet Rover host! Katrina was super accommodating and flexible with booking and sent lots of photos. She even managed to walk our Nashi with another dog even though Nashi can often be leash-reactive. She has a kind and calm nature, and we will definitely book her again.

A typical day
My home is a wonderful environment for dogs because it’s big enough for them to stretch out and play, and contained enough that I can always have my eye on them to ensure their safety. New Canaan is also a great outdoor scene for dogs in terms of parks, and beautiful and safe back roads. Some fun activities I might do with pets include: Going for walks in nature, fetch/tug-of-war, teaching new tricks or commands through positive reinforcement training, setting up obstacles or agility training for mental/physical stimulation, or a cuddle session if the animal is interested.
