Pet care experience
I've taken care of my own animals since we got them 11 years ago. 3 Dogs and one cat which we rescued as a stray. I've taken care of friends pets for 5 years and clients pets for 3 years. I have experience with senior dogs, giving oral medication, and taking care of multiple cats and dogs at a time. I've also taken care of less traditional animals such as goats and guinea pigs. I love animals and I will treat your fur babies with the utmost care and love, and respect your home while I'm there. I am available all days and nights. I do have in person college courses for my biology major before I can get onto the pre-vet train. I feed and water both my cat and the family dogs daily, and give our 7 year old dog her anxiety medication which she is quite resistant about. I also clean up the litter box for my cat, and will let our 3 dogs out roughly every 2 hours when I am at home. At a clients home I will ask for a schedule and any special treatments that the animals may need such as medicines. I will follow this schedule as precisely as possible. If the animals sleep in a certain place I will put them there, but if the animals usually sleep on the bed with their owners I will do that as well. We let our animals sleep on the bed with us, so it's usually what I prefer. I'm ready for pretty much any challenge!
Reviews
Bear loves her! she was wonderful with her and took great car of our baby! we will definitely contact her again.
Katie was the best dog sitter for our pups. She is calm, nurturing, and most of all, loved our dogs like they were her own. She was the best dog sitter we’ve ever had and I hope to be able to use her again. We had zero worries for 11 days out of the country. She sent videos, pics and updates and I could tell our dogs had been well loved when we arrived home. She also watered our plants and we returned home to a spotless house. She was the absolute best!
Katie is great with my rescues. They don't warm up quickly but she was kind and persistent. Now they both really like her !!
Katie is great! She sent us regular updates throughout the weekend and pictures of the pups. All of our animals were well taken care of and in great spirits when we returned! She kept our home clean and maintained as if we were here. Katie played with our active lab and cuddled our sweet older pups so everyone got what they needed. If you’re in the Athens area and need a pet sitter she should be your first choice!

I only do house/pet sitting at YOUR home, this job allows me to have time to study and do assignments for my courses and be at your house with your pets as much as possible. I try my best to follow schedules given to me by owners, this includes feeding times, potty breaks, medication needs, and exercising pets! At my own home we all work together to take care of the dogs, but my cat is the one I am solely responsible for, except my younger brother will feed him for me when I am away for pet sitting.
Information Katie W. would like to know about your pet
It is important to know of any medical conditions prior to pet sitting and anything that would be my responsibility as the pet sitter to take care of while you are away. If the dog has any commands that could ensure their safety, such as if they respond to No, or Come here. Certain commands are needed for walking the dog in a public place. If the dog is well leashed trained or not. If there is anything the dog gets aggressive about, if the dog was a rescue from a bad situation and are skittish of people initially, it would also bee good to know. As much information as can be given!
A typical day
My personal animals are very low on the activity scale, so we play with them when they ask and I try to run around the yard with them when we take them outside. Most dogs that I have pet sat so far also have a low to moderate activity level. However to take care of a high energy dog, I would take them for walks within the neighborhood if that is an option, or play fetch with a ball or frisbee in the yard. I could also take them to a public dog park as long as they are friendly with other animals. I'm willing to get active to any dogs that need it, it'll probably be good for me too, lol!
