Pet care experience
I have my own rescue pup that was quite the rambunctious wild animal at 6 months old. Rue is a medium sized terrier/lab mix but I also have experience and am comfortable with large breeds (including bullies) and small breeds. I have learned basic training while training Rue and use only positive behavior reinforcement methods (my sister was a dog trainer so I've learned from her). I had my own bad experience when I had to board Rue once as a puppy so I will make sure your experience is much more pleasant! I realize the importance of mental stimulation for animals as well as physical and will incorporate training sessions and mental games to my visits with your dog. For cats, I will offer play time, snuggles/scratches, or space if they need it. Safety is a top priority for me and I will be VERY diligent about ensuring your cat or dog's safety while in my care. I absolutely do not want anything to happen to your pet and I am naturally a very over cautious person. I also have experience with special needs pets- Rue had IVDD 4 years ago and I now express her bladder manually. If you have a special needs pup who needs this, I would love to help out as these dogs hold a special place in my heart and I know how difficult it can be to find care for a dog who needs this. During the week (M-F), I work at a nonprofit supporting folks with disabilities. I have a flexible schedule but keep it fairly regular (8:30a-4:30p ish) On the weekends I am completely free and would love to give lots of attention to your pets!

This was the first time that I left my dog with someone other than a family member or friend and Katie was wonderful! There was great communication throughout our trip and our dog, Buster, seemed to have a great time! Thank you, Katie, for taking such great care of Buster!
Katie was amazing with our pup Sadie. This was the first time we had left her with someone and during our meet and greet she put us at ease with her calm and warm personality and outpouring of treats : ). Her pup, Rue was also a bonus to the stay! She walked Sadie twice a day and took her on fun 1000 acres dog park adventures on the weekend. Weather delayed our pick up and she was extremely flexible with our pickup. I definitely recommend Katie and plan to use her in the future.
Katie was a pleasure to work with. She was *extremely* flexible when our plans changed, which helped make a difficult situation better. She obviously understands caring for dogs, was warm and friendly with Trixie, and Trixie seemed to have a good time with her and Katie's dog Rue. Katie was excellent at communicating with us. I recommend Katie as a sitter and would definitely use her services again.

Safety will absolutely be my main focus followed by love and fun :) I will make sure your pet has all of their needs met and I will be sure to follow any instructions provided by you. I like to allow each animal to set their own pace and will read cues from them as to how much attention they do or do not want and what they are comfortable with. For overnights, I am fine with pets sleeping on the same bed as me (if that's allowed). For dog walking, I will ensure you pet is leashed up properly and be extra careful while entering and exiting the property. We will avoid other dogs and people while out and if ok'd by you I will bring treats on the walk in case we want to do some training or I need to use them as a lure/distraction.

I would need to know... -Feeding/medication/potty schedule. What their normal daily routine looks like. -What is their energy level and temperament? -Any behavior issues? (urinating in the house, chewing, excessive barking, separation anxiety, etc) -For walks, any triggers (bikes, squirrels, other dogs, etc) or other behaviors to know about to ensure safety.
A typical day
The activities we do will depend on your pet's temperament. I am comfortable playing with toys, playing fetch, doing some short training sessions or games. I also enjoy offering more chill activities such as massage, pets/scratches, or snuggling. Or if your pet just needs the necessities and wants to be left alone that is fine too. Input from you on what your pet enjoys will help me know what type of things to do.

Availability
I work full time during the week and I do have some flexibility with my schedule but I would prefer to do any drop ins or dog walks early in the morning between 6a-8a. Then I'm free later in day after 4:30p again for drop ins and walks. If you are located very nearby me, I would be able to swing by during my work hours. On weekends, I am available for overnights Friday or Saturday nights. I am available for dog walking anytime Saturdays or Sundays.
