Veterinary & Rescue Experience
Pet care experience
I’ve devoted my life to animals and taking care of them. I have prior experience in the veterinary field, doggy day cares, and have fostered many dogs over the years for various nonprofits. We live on a small farm and have chickens, quail, cats, rabbits, and kunekune pigs. We also have two dogs. Sylvia is a 8 year old Pit Bull terrier (who is a sweet and lovely advocate for the breed) and Aquila our fun loving 7 month old Icelandic sheepdog puppy. Aquila and I also plan on competing in dog sports and possibly confirmation. I consider myself especially comfortable with nervous or fearful dogs.
Reviews
Katie was a lucky connection for us. She took amazing care of our dog who ended up having a medical emergency during our trip. She was excellent to work with and took such good care of our dog. Thank you, Katie!
Katie was great and looked after my dog as if it were her own. She communicated great and gave plenty of updates so I was could completely enjoy my vacation without worrying about my dogs well being!
Katie is absolutely wonderful. Her love for dogs is very apparent. I know our pup loves when he gets to stay with Katie and I love that I am completely confident that he is getting the same love and care he would if he were home. Katie is always our first choice for a dog sitter when we're out of town. I love that we come home to a happy pup each time and not an anxious/uncomfortable one!

Safety, trust & environment
While we do not have a fenced yard, we use a long lead that provides lots of room for your dog to play but still be securely attached to me. Our 3 acres allows for walks in the woods and lots of sniffs around our farm animals. We only board one client at a time in our home because quality over quantity is very important to us. If you have a puppy you can expect any training to be ongoing with us and if desired, we can also do extra socialization and outings. Our two children, while very neutral and hands off, are excellent with dogs and are a great positive experience for puppies.

Information Katie L. would like to know about your pet
Safety is of the highest priority. That goes for your pet, ours, and our children. Please keep in mind that we do not have a fenced yard and have young children in the home. While our children are very respectful and will have minimal contact with your dog, a dog who is highly stressed or aggressive towards children may not enjoy staying in our home. If your dog is a known runner please notify me so I can make sure we have everything set in place to assure your dog is extra safe.
A typical day
All dogs are individuals and it’s important to match activities with your dogs temperament and exercise needs. Daily enrichment can include stuffed kongs, puzzles, sniff walks in our woods and visits to our pond, farm animal visits, playtime with our dogs, and weather permitting kiddie pools. If your dog has higher energy needs, we can also take trips to our local state park for hikes or to downtown areas. If you’re dog is a couch potato, they’re also welcome to snuggle on a heated blanket on the couch.

Availability
I’m currently a stay at home mom and my husband works from home as well, which allows me to have free time throughout the day to accommodate time slots for pet care. As far as boarding goes, one of us is almost always home.
