Stay-at-home maltipoo mom!

Pet care experience

New to Rover, but not new to dog sitting! I’ve been a dog owner since 2015 and I’ve dog sat for over 75 families, with many repeat clients. I love it! We treat our dogs like part of the family! ****Please read this section before you send a request: Dogs must be spayed/neutered, fully house-trained, non-shedding or minimally-shedding, and good with small children and other small dogs. If your dog can be described as feisty or aggressive, I’m so sorry, we are not a good fit. No dogs that bark excessively or bite. Dogs barely over the 15 lb limit are perfectly fine. All of my clients are small (with one exception for a medium dog) so if your dog is scared of big dogs, they will be fine here! **** Owners must be okay with my husband (who works from home) watching the dogs and taking them out to go potty when I have to run errands or take the kids to the zoo. *Dogs must be well-groomed (preferably with a sanitary area shave) and up to date on vaccines before boarding. If your dog hasn’t been groomed in 3 months, we are probably not the best fit.* Our favorite breeds to host: Yorkie Shih Tzu Maltipoo (Maltese poodle mix) Toy/mini poodle Bichon frise Havanese Miniature Schnauzer West highland terrier Cairn terrier Mini goldendoodle Cockapoo Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Or any mixture of these breeds We’d love to watch your dog!

Our Maltipoo is nervous whenever she is at a new place. Katie took very good care of her. She is also cheerful, loving, and professional. It put us at ease seeing the pictures and videos of our fur baby having a good time at Katie’s home.

Katie is everything you could want and need in a dogsitter. She is kind, approachable, and created a safe space for your fur friend. Dolly loved her visits and came home a happy dog. Thank you, Katie!

Safety, trust & environment

I have 2 toddlers who love dogs and know how to be gentle with them. They’ve loved every pup we’ve watched and miss them when they leave. We have a Maltipoo who is always standoffish with new dogs at first, then she’s fine after a few mins. She will bark at you until you pet her. Sometimes my dog plays with my client’s pups, but she mostly does her own thing in my husband’s office since she’s very attached to him. Dogs who are overwhelmed by toddlers and chaos usually join her on the big bed by his desk. We have a huge, fenced backyard for the dogs to run around in! The yard has 2 gates that have double locks for added security. All doors out of our home have an extra toddler-proof lock at the top, our front door has a baby gate, and I AirTag the dogs just to be on the safe side!

A typical day

In a typical day, we wake up around 9, let the dogs out to go potty, and give them their meds. We make sure they have water and food. We just chill around the house during the day, and when the weather is cool enough, we all relax outside before dinner, watching the dogs run around the yard. We let the dogs out at 1-2 hr intervals throughout the day. We refill their food and water. After dinner, we go for a walk when the weather is nice enough. We take them outside to go potty, then go to bed around 10 pm. Sometimes we cuddle while watching TV at night and do belly rubs and brushing. My average number of clients is probably 2-3 at a time, but during busy travel times I might have more, in which case I hire neighborhood kids to help me care for everyone, and I make sure everyone’s needs are met and every pup gets plenty of attention! We keep the pups busy and distracted so they don’t miss home much, and they are always excited to visit us again.

Availability

I’m a stay-at-home mom, and my husband works from home too, so someone is always here to take the dogs out to go potty! I do this full-time so I can afford to stay at home with my kids. The dogs usually chill with us in the living room, the backyard, play with my kids in the backyard, or nap on the bed in my husband’s office. We usually walk the pups once a day.
