I have 2 cats, Alita and Seras. Seras really loves Katie, more than most people Seras has met! Seras has very long and sensitive whiskers, so Katie makes sure to avoid touching her face. Katie can get pretty loud when she is excited, so Alita normally hides when Katie is over. However when Katie sees Alita she almost immediately calms her voice to make sure Alita is comfortable. I only told Katie once that Alita is scared of loud noises and that Seras has sensitive whiskers, but Katie remembers those and respects the cats' boundaries/needs. (I do find hilarious she could remember those before she could remember their names! 😂) If Katie takes this much time accomodating to cats who have particular needs, she will be absolutely great with dogs. She shows an amount of love and respect for animals that I don't always see in people.
