My formal pet care experience began in 2017 when I worked as a kennel technician at an animal hospital. My primary responsibility in this role was to provide ongoing care to animals staying at the hospital. Specifically, I was responsible for feeding animals, administering medications, monitoring the well-being of the animals, and keeping their kennels clean and comfortable. In addition to kennel duties, I assisted veterinary technicians in several tasks including checking patients in, holding patients for examinations and clippings, and preparing patients for surgery. I worked in this role for three months before I left the area to attend college, where I earned my Bachelor of Social Work. Presently, I work full-time as a housing advocate. Aside from my formal experience in animal care, I grew up in a household full of pets and often aided in caring for animals on my family farm, specifically cows, horses, and chickens (so if you have a pet cow, I'm your girl!) That being said I am very comfortable around both predictable, calm pets and unpredictable more nervous types. My time spent with animals has granted me the skill to read the body language of cats and dogs and respond accordingly. As a devout animal lover, it would be my pleasure to feed, water, walk, hang out, and/or tell jokes to your furry friend!
