I do not recommend Katie or Rover. We did a meet and greet with Katie, thought that she’d be a great fit, and hired her to do overnight sits in Denver for our two senior dogs from 8/17/17 – 8/19/17. She texted on 8/17/17 to let me know that she’d head to our place at 1:00 p.m. When I hadn’t heard from her by 8:25 p.m., I texted, asking if she was okay and whether she’d be making it to our place. She replied at 8:44 p.m. with, “I got t boned in front of [a nearby restaurant] on my way to your house. They just released me from the hospital and my boyfriend is on his way to get me. I am ok and we are heading straight there” And that was the last I heard from her. I texted back, “How terrible!!! Glad that you’re ok. If you’re not up for taking care of the boys tomorrow through Sunday, let me know.” About 1.5 more hours pass, no response from Katie, and our alarm log showed that she still hadn’t arrived at our house. Our neighbor saved the day and gave our dogs a bathroom break and food. I texted Katie that we had a neighbor check on the boys, that it would be best for Rover to find us someone else, and that I hoped that she healed quickly. Again, no response from her. Rover issued a full refund, but I was up essentially all night finding a replacement sitter; Rover “helped” us find Danielle C., who also left our dogs alone for a prolonged period of time on 8/18/17, among other irresponsible, untrustworthy behavior. Suffice it to say, our vacation was ruined. We returned home early. While I understand that emergencies and accidents happen, I don’t understand why Katie failed to notify me or Rover that she would be delayed when she was in her own words “ok” or why she said that she was “heading straight there” to take care of our dogs but never arrived. I also don’t understand why she stopped communicating with me entirely. At the very least, an apology from her would have been nice. Bottom line: Had she communicated with me or Rover, I could have made alternative arrangements for our dogs sooner. To leave our two senior dogs alone for such a prolonged period of time is inexcusable. If I hadn’t checked our alarm log and reached out to her, who knows how long our dogs would have been left alone.

Katie was wonderful with my two dogs, Barley and Rye, and has taken care of them during several trips that we have gone on. Knowing that our pups were in good hands while we were away was a priceless feeling. She truely loves animals and they love her too! She always went above and beyond and spent quality time playing with them and taking care of their emotional needs as well as their physical ones. Barley and Rye love her and that means everything to us.
