Pet care experience
I have decades of experience caring for all types of pets. In addition to dogs and cats, I have cared for guinea pigs, rabbits, other adorable rodents, fish, frogs, turtles and other herps, and even insects! I have also helped clients with puppy and dog training and developing deeper relationships with their furred, finned, and feathered friends. Send a request for training rates.
Reviews

Katie is amazing! Especially with the training she has started to include. Tilly loves being there and is getting clicker trained too!

Katie is fantastic! We have trusted her multiple times with Nela and we appreciate everything she does for our girl. We couldn’t recommend her highly enough!

She is amazing. I totally trust her. My corgi had so much fun and received so much attention. What a great experience

Katie is just the best! She is so knowledgeable about different breeds and is especially patient with my Ziggy’s picky eating. There is nothing better than knowing your dog is well cared for when you are away. Thank you Katie for taking such good care of Ziggy!

Communication
Skills
Safety, trust & environment
I never, ever let clients' dogs off leash in unfenced areas. I carefully monitor greetings and interactions with other dogs or with humans and follow client guidelines. Mealtimes are also carefully monitored. I employ positive training methods and use lots of exercise and redirection.

Information Katie C. would like to know about your pet
We'll start with a meet and greet, usually at the dog park in the single-use area, to let pups get to know each other in a neutral environment. I'll need to know if your pup is a resource guarder or a nervous eater, and if they keep company with humans on furniture. Crate training isn't necessary, but is helpful.
A typical day
We live in Aldea, north of Santa Fe, with acres of dedicated open land, arroyos, walking trails, wide, smooth roads, and miles upon miles of sidewalks. Our back yard, though small, is just fine for active dog play, low-key fetch, and tug-of-war. Our office on the ground floor is just off the open floor plan, allowing for supervision without hovering. Lots of hand-feeding and treats keep pups' eyes, nose, ears, and attention engaged.

Availability
I work from my home office and enjoy a flexible schedule. I take several breaks throughout the day to stretch and move and exercise, so I'm happy to take your pooch along with me. Our own dog, Peter Brady, gets two walks of at least a mile and a half each day, mid-morning and late afternoon. We have two crates, a ridiculous amount of toys, and love to spare.
