Pet care experience
I'm a chemistry professor who has loved animals and has cared for pets my entire life. I currently have a small dog, two cats and a horse that I have adopted since graduating college. I've also previously owned mice, rats, chinchillas, a parakeet, and fish. Before getting my PhD, I was planning on becoming a vet (and I currently teach biochemistry) so I have a good basic understanding of pet health. I've shadowed several vets and have worked at many horse farms. I have cared for several pets with serious illnesses, including a cat with a chronic autoimmune disease, a sick chinchilla, and a very accident prone horse, so I am experienced with giving medication (oral and injections) and first aid. I am a very reliable and flexible person and I would love to meet and spend time with your pets!

Katie was great with our three dogs. The dogs took to her immediately, which was great because we were traveling for a family emergency. She sent us lots of photos and updates. It was so nice to be able to focus on family rather than worry about how my babies were doing. My oldest dog can be a bit temperamental with new people, but Katie won him over without a problem. We came home to dogs that were happy to see me, but were clearly well taken care of and tired from lots of good play time. We would happily use Katie again the next time we travel.
Katie has pet sit for me many times. I have two cats and I trust her fully with my furbabies. Katie is reliable and did a fantastic job feeding, keeping litter boxes clean, and ensuring my cats got their medications. She is my go-to pet sitter and I highly recommend her services.

I live in a duplex house out in a quiet area with very little traffic. My yard is not fenced, but there is plenty of area to go for walks. I have an extra bedroom that can be used to separate or crate animals if needed.

I love all dogs, young, old, big and small. I particularly enjoy friendly dogs that like attention, but I have also been known to win over shy dogs too. I also love cats!
A typical day
We will enjoy a nice walk around the neighborhood, as long or as fast as your dog wants based on their energy level and personality. I particularly enjoy giving belly rubs and snuggles and playing with their favorite toys.

Availability
Since I'm a professor, I only have to work during the semester and only have to be on campus during variable times based on my teaching schedule. I generally only teach Mon-Thurs and am usually free all day Friday-Sunday and other weeknights. I am also free during the week when classes are not in session (Generally mid Dec- mid Jan, all summer, and a week for spring break.) When I'm not teaching, I would love to take care of your fur babies!
